"They kept sending people? That was...honestly, that was really stupid of them."

Nadine sighs and rakes a hand through her hair. Most of Boulder...she doesn't care. They were just people, people she'd never made any deep connections with. Larry and Joe...they were different, they were from before Boulder. And she'd kept them safe, left them behind so at least they could be a family. Joe would have a father to love him and raise him, and eventually there'd be another woman and Nadine-Mom would be forgotten. Sad - heartbreaking, if she's blunt with herself - but better for him.

Though not if Boulder kept poking the very easily angered bear to the west.

"They should have just left it alone. You'd think having most of their governing committee assassinated would be a pretty clear warning message. Who even...what did they hope to accomplish? If they hadn't decided to start taking action and actively oppose Randall, there probably wouldn't have even been a problem in the first place. They were supposed to just back down. Why would they keep at it?"
