What she’s not going to say is that this is, really, the first time she’s ever seen a wolf, at least a real one. ARTEMIS had never been able to repopulate the Earth with anything larger than a wild boar, or a fox, and here they are, hunting down a wolf for sport. The least she can do is make sure the parts go to use.

Not to say that the machines don’t, to some extent, feel, but that’s a function of their programming rather than anything else.
