Jo's got many choice words for the full-stop nonsense about following her heart that just came out of Inej's mouth. If any of this was about her following her heart, she would have gone out the gates as soon as the day after she hit Cadens. If it was about this place letting her follow her heart, it would never have pulled her here and off the job, to begin with. The pressed line of her mouth is only setting flatter.
"I'll just go do that." There's a tension in those words, and the hold of her jaw that make it clear this is starting to rework a ground that's going to go sideways fast the longer Jo tries to remain polite about the whole thing. She pushes a step through it, ever that girl across the bar, on that job no matter how loudly she and her mother had gone screaming ten-to-fifteen minutes earlier. "Thanks for the advice."
There's a finality to it, and while Jo doesn't say it, Inej would be wise to pick up on it.
