[ They are kind of hostages here, aren’t they? Eddie doesn’t allow himself to dwell on that part of their situation too much. He’s avoiding it, really, because that road will inevitably lead his thought process back to that one pesky little problem: he died, he was dead, and now he isn’t dead.

He lets himself think of the positives, though. He likes it here, likes that he’s not on the run and the people are kind to him and don’t judge him for what he looks like or what his hobbies might be. He hasn’t even had to pretend to be anyone but himself. What is there left for him back home anyway? Even if he weren’t dead, he’d still be a wanted man with no concrete proof of innocence—but those are not the positive sort of thoughts he’s aiming for. ]

[ And he’s clearly pleased with that deal, if his smile and the way he raises his glass is anything to judge by. That will be a campaign for the books, and Eddie already knows that if he ever sees Dustin Henderson again, it will be the first thing he tells him about. ]
