Jesper was very afraid when he first got here, although he would not admit to that, he would say he was very cautious when he first got there. And for good reason, being a Grisha is very dangerous, and then he found himself in this weird place and he was already set aside as a Summoned. It took time before he confessed it to anyone. Wanda was one of the first. Slowly he started trusting the others, and eventually he could talk about it without feeling anxious. Now it seems so easy in comparison.
He listens to Claude's reply as he is clearly giving context and Jesper finds all these things interesting, so he chews on some food as he does. Interesting, an ancestor requirement with these Crest things. So it is in a way about special blood. And he has a healing one. That'll come in handy. Jesper makes a face about the army and relics, because that does sound like not a whole lot of choice. Special people always end up being forced into war. It'll be the same with the Summoned, one of these days.
"There's more of us than you think. Don't be surprised if you find out other Summoned have abilities." It does seem to be an all-or-nothing situation though, with the middle ground being people who had no powers learning magic here or something like that. Jesper knows a lot, he trades in information, as Claude knows, which means he also is aware of who may be supernatural, whether they've admitted to it or not.
"But it is similar. We're all born with our abilities, but everyone leans in one direction or another, they have different groups within the Grisha. People who can manipulate the elements, people who can manipulate the body, and people like me, who can manipulate physical objects and materials." If there are Grisha who can do all of it, Jesper's never heard of them. Maybe it's just trained out of them, or maybe it really is how people are.
Jesper decides he may as well show him, so he glances over to the side. Most people are enjoying the party so it doesn't matter. He flicks a finger and a fork is lifted right off of the table and lands into his waiting hand. He puts his plate down so he can focus for a moment. Telekinesis is only part of it, although the one he knew mostly before coming here. Effortlessly, Jesper taps on the fork and it immediately turns into liquid, swirling around in his hand. He makes it into a question mark and then an exclamation point, as a lark, and then it snaps back into a solid object, a fork, like nothing happened.
