[ In the brief pause, Geralt assumes she's simply debating if she wants him to stay. He doesn't mind leaving her be, either—and it never once crosses his mind that she finds any of this unexpected. Perhaps it should. The idea of pleasant is just so far from anything he knows. They take contentment where they can, but the truth is, living is a painful, gasping thing. It's always been that way, for him and everyone around him.

But it is a little more bearable with someone else.

He lets her lean against him. The silence isn't stifling, only quiet, and he lets it sink over them. The fireflies glow, flowers pulse gently. He can hear her heart, the rise and fall of her chest. She smells of the perfume she's picked out for the night. He hadn't let anyone spray him with a scent—he doesn't like how it clings to him, drowning out the other smells—but elsewise? Julie did effectively have free rein over him, alongside Jaskier and Ciri. He can't remember the last time he's had his hair so thoroughly brushed.

He smiles. His hand rests idly atop hers. ]
Thanks to you. [ He doesn't mind the whole...experience. Just rarely worth the effort, given his work. One of those things he hasn't got the patience for. Or learned to do, really. But for a night, why not? ] Suppose the secret's out now.
