[ The dry joke earns little more than the twitch of a smile from Steve, and then Strange disappears into the tent. The entire process of receiving the fortune is pretty quick, nothing like the overblown spectacles that are so often shown on television.

Maybe Steve could strain to hear what's said from where he stands, but he doesn't, leaving it up to Stephen to decide how much to share.

Yet between his expression and that comment when he emerges, it sounds like maybe he did receive an ill omen. Steve tilts his head to one side and eyes the tent, wondering he wants to do this after all, but he's already made his decision and he isn't one to back out at the last minute. ]

Guess I'll see you on the other side, then.

[ He squares his shoulders and steps inside. A minute or so later, he exits, not looking quite so bothered by what he heard. He makes his way over to where Strange waits and shrugs one shoulder. ]

Here's hoping we didn't just sell our souls or something.

[ Another attempt at a joke. He's pretty sure Stephen would know if something untoward had been happening in there. ]

Should we find somewhere to sit? [ It'll be more comfortable than a conversation had while standing in line. ]
