Grisha, Zowa, Durast: all terms Claude commits to memory with all the importance of which Jesper's explained these to him in ways the other man didn't have to do. And the further he goes into those explanations, the more Claude finds fascinating about Jesper's ability. Even with Fodlan's magic and all it can do beyond the spells meant for battle he knows, it's a far cry from what the other is describing. Not to mention what he witnessed with that fork with his own eyes.
"I take it this is your warning that I don't want to challenge to any knife throwing games if you can recall the blades that quickly to try again, hm?" The grin is contagious as it has been each time and Claude finds himself returning it easily, and not as an automatic response for a placeholder for a reaction he's readying to something else. Jesper's easy to talk to - as he's already discovered several times over - and it's nice to be able to joke at a party. Something normal, as if this isn't technically some kind of diplomatic visit.
"I'll take your word for it on being a perfect shot with a gun since I've only learned what those are since coming to Abraxas and have no experience. Even the crossbows the hunting grounds have are beyond Fodlan's technology. That's a skill that'd be handy when it comes to archery since... well, no. I was contemplating being humble for a moment, but I'm confident enough in my archery skills to say I'm fairly close to a perfect shot." All that training paid off, after all. "But I wouldn't say no to being able to just about guarantee it when wind or terrain factors in."
Or - something else occurs to him then and another (actual) grin goes with it, especially since he means it as some harmless mischief at worst. "Then again, if you're out in the hunting grounds and you happen across me shooting poorly in the dark, I also wouldn't turn down an assist in making sure arrows land just for a bit of an advantage."
i saw nothing!
