He'd been slightly kidding about the whistling being a good way to get his attention to come back, but it turns out Claude's forgotten they have a much more convenient way of communicating: the mind handwriting.

When writing he doesn't quite know winds through his vision in the middle of regaling the soldiers about this battle or that, still holding fast to being as distracting as possible, and it takes him a second to place whose it is. The meaning's quite clear, though, so that story gets wrapped to a believable enough end - since he might've been making a large portion of it up anyway - and he makes a show of peering back over his shoulder. Looks like it's all clear now, that scouting mission found a way around it, and so why not head that way? It doesn't take long for the soldiers to get moving since they're every bit as eager to make it to their destination, let alone back to the ravine to work on a solution.

"So, we've found how to help, have we?" he announces a bit louder than usual to alert to his return with 'friends' in tow - not that the noise wouldn't have made that already apparent. "Everyone here with a horse is ready to put them to use. Just tell us where to go."
