At Ciri's question, Claude hesitates. Mostly because he hasn't yet encountered anyone else who's mentioned randomly getting some ability - though then again, he hasn't asked around either. Well, no time like the present. "This is just an ordinary mirror I picked up at one of the markets so nothing special about it on the surface. I, ah, seem to have developed that... skill, I guess you could say, out of nowhere. I found that out one day while moving the mirror I have in my room and the map appeared. From what I've studied of the astronomy charts in the libraries the sky that shows up is accurate, so if nothing else I suppose we won't get lost on our way there and back."
Hm. He follows this up with a shrug in case it's not an experience anyone else has had and most importantly: because he knows how it sounds if that's the case. His explanation to Petra hadn't been much better, but too late to take back mentioning it now. Gideon's comment gets a grin from him both for the idea of a break and the description of specific weather related troubles.
"Maybe if we're lucky Solvunn will have some trees along the road we'll take? Or anything to give us some shade and a bit of a break from the sun that's not worse weather." Claude's not finishing that thought the rest of the way in case said weather gets any ideas about rain, storms, or both. "Until then cards will likely be our best distraction. Regretfully, I can't say I stashed anything to drink away in my bags for this trip."
Since, you know: it's not exactly for leisure. But a little unwinding where they can certainly shouldn't hurt anything.
