For a moment, he's quiet. Geralt does not make idle promises. And right now, he's not in a place where his focus has been on those around him. They all have their friends; their allies. Small circles to rely on. If it comes down to it, he's already made the decision of where his priorities lie. That's not shifted since he's realized he's not alone from his sphere.

But he also knows Estinien is asking for something other than a promise. Momentary peace of mind? Perhaps. It's not really what he knows how to give—so if Estinien wants to hear that Geralt has an eye out for those important to him, he can offer that if only because it's nothing he wouldn't already be doing. Even if he'll not ever acknowledge that out loud.

"I don't do favours," he replies. "Promise nothing owed, and I'll keep them in mind."

He's fairly finished with people trying to owe him what he never asked for. He doesn't even care that Estinien is supposed to be dead in this scenario and thus it's a moot point. He has an entire Child of Destiny because of it—for all the fuck that's done.

"Just don't ask me to plan your burial," he adds drily. "I'm busy with mine."
