Even only knowing the story of the mage from Jayce's retellings, Viktor knows how much that experience meant to him, and how much it probably means for him now. All he can do is encourage it, even as he feels a pang of something undefinable. Jayce is clearly proud of what he's accomplished here--Viktor knows he likes feeling needed, and it's not undeserved. He's proud of him, despite the circumstances.
