The voice-clearing in the quiet after the conversation startles him. It's not Shepard. She would have made a comment on Tali and spiders. She also wouldn't have cleared her throat. This is, after all, technically a part of her ship, even if it's the space Garrus carved out for his own.

So when he turns, and spots Nadine of all people, he actually drops the glowing pad he'd been holding, mandibles peeled back off his jaw in surprise.

"I uh." A glance at the door, then at her. "Didn't think it was open."

Did people just wander into peoples' spaces? Was that how this place worked?
