This raises a whole lot more questions than anything outside, and that is saying a ridiculous amount.
[ He’s being hypocritical, and he knows it. He still has his own shit to deal with and he definitely hasn’t confronted it since arriving. His refusal to back down is a double edged sword, and he really doesn’t know why he’s pushing so hard for an answer when he could have just accepted it and gotten out of this freaky room already.
But Eddie has grown to respect Steve. He’s grown to respect Steve a lot more than he respects most people. He’d even argue that they’re truly friends by this point, but every time he learns something more about Steve, he’s more and more surprised that the guy manages to hold it together at all. This room just adds another layer.
He kind of regrets it the minute it comes out of his mouth, though. It seems cruel, so he offers an out; a white flag: ]
