Viktor doesn't attend the same academy as Nadine--he's been at the Grand Academy for a few months now, but academia is such that they cross paths every so often. It helps that Jayce still takes physiology classes, so she's in their orbit, tangentially, and many of the academy students intermingle on various campuses anyway.

Being here at all feels like a waste of time--an attempt to pretend things are fine when they very clearly aren't--but work doesn't stop just because the Singularity is acting up again.

(It stops because Nadine is here telling him about zombies, or something).
