Jayce has only been in one fight in his life and while he did very, very well within it, the adrenaline he feels has the most to explain for that. In the moment he felt invincible, especially as the fight went on. It isn't the same when facing some monstrous creatures though and while the hammer glows brighter and brighter, it doesn't seem like he knows how to actually blow them apart or away from him. There will always be something holding him back from violence now, even to protect himself.

He blocks instead of fights, but he is thrown off by the sudden appearance of water around him. This would really seem like an outright strange nightmare if he was dreaming, but he is fairly sure he is (or was?) in the Horizon. If he can barely fight off ghouls, he has absolutely nothing to help him when he's dragged into the water abruptly. Jayce would have swam or fought if he didn't hear Wanda's voice. And because he trusts her, he immediately listens to her, although he can't exactly hang on to anything. His heart pounds and he feels like he might get sick from the tipping over. He has a weak stomach.

He manages to keep it together and gasping as if afraid there is no air, leaning on the ground. The hammer is gone, having disappeared during the water adventure, and Jayce feels so out of sorts. Like the world literally just spun around him. He looks up at Wanda, confused, and struggles to his feet.

"I'm not leaving you here, are you kidding me? This is insane!" She just told him that it was her domain, so arguably she is there for a reason, but it doesn't matter. She's his friend.
