It wouldn't have been that big a deal, if Dean had told her he was alright being alone tonight. It wouldn't be Nadine's first rejection. But she's glad he invites her in, and she moves through the doorway and inside.
"Yeah, sure." Why not? That seems to be the mantra these days. Why not? She's been drinking more than usual lately. Of course her 'usual' isn't much, but in a way that only highlights the difference. A drink or two a day from hardly any drinks is a marked increase.
But it won't hurt, and she gets the sense that maybe Dean is the one who needs the drink. She can't blame him, she's hardly given him any indication she had an interest. It had never been something she gave any serious consideration to, beyond a vague acknowledgement to herself that he's handsome and appealing. She just never allows those vague ideas to grow into anything else.
