Wanda's explanation fails to smooth the worry from his expression, but he nods to let her know that he believes her when she says she's trying to fix it. The weight of her remorse that day they reconnected in the Horizon — on his birthday, after weeks of silent upheaval — was very real. He understands her need to set mistakes right, how it presses on the heart with an insistent gravity.

"I tried leaving, yeah." When he was running, and the mist curled and snatched inches from his ankles. "It didn't...it didn't work."

Wilhelm makes a face, self-deprecating.

"Well, obviously. But if something is wrong with the Horizon, then...that's not surprising."

He sighs, this time backed by more air in his lungs. He pushes his hands through his hair, getting it out of his face.

"I had kind of a weird dream last night. I wonder if there's a connection. When we all had those nightmares a while ago, and those...monsters, or whatever they were, were stalking us, the Horizon got messed up too."
