[ Claude watches Wilhelm deal with his sweater, and - right. He should probably do something about this, like maybe invite Wilhelm to sit at the bare minimum of courtesy, and he starts to do just that. But, that half-formed thought never comes to be.

He should've expected that question, having been the one to volunteer the information in the first place, and yet. Most people wouldn't have bothered to question it or perhaps they would have muttered something meant as passing sympathy of some kind before changing the subject. It's not unless they know the weight of that that they ask directly and in that tone.

That wouldn't exactly answer Wilhelm, so Claude thinks for yet another moment after gesturing to the chairs for the other to take a seat if he'd like. ]

You could say that. You could also say it wasn't a one time incident.

[ If there's a way to say either of those statements casually, Claude's going to do it complete with a meaningless smile that'll look real enough to put everything at ease. And whether Wilhelm's sat down somewhere or not, he will now himself to lean back with every bit of projected nonchalance. Time for a gamble about those voices. ]
