It strikes her almost suddenly, that she has not actually slept in days, stuck somewhere that time didn’t move the same, if at all; her body has been still out here in the world, but her mind is exhausted and drained. Part of her is loath to close her eyes, to be alone even in the sense of sleep, but it doesn’t take very long for her to be lulled by the sound of his breath, the beat of his heart. Sounds she has grown accustomed to over the months.
In her dreams, the colors swirl again, rush and blur around her again, but the only noise is a rhythmic thudding on a four-count. ]
