It's not really his fault for harboring the first impression that Jack's an awkward but otherwise totally innocent victim that's somehow managed to navigate the insane circumstances of his life while keeping his hands completely clean, but the fact of the matter is... that's not really the case. There's a reason why he wasn't alarmingly fazed by Kyle's history, by the things he's done. Granted, none of Jack's stories are quite that intense, not nearly so viscerally wrong, but they're still not... great. )
