Jayce can't blame her for following her heart even if it will lead to pain. He wouldn't be able to ignore it either. The people he left behind he misses, but he knows they're still alive, that his mother doesn't even know he's gone so she will be safe and happy. It is the only reason he has been able to let that go being here. But what wouldn't he do to have her here with him, even if only for a few minutes? Even if in his head?
He puts his hand over hers on his arm so she knows he is there to support her. He gets a good look at her children for the first time. They're cute and he can see her in them. Jayce doesn't understand any of this, so when she looks at him, he just looks confused. He doesn't know that it makes sense, but she believes it, and he believes in her.
"Okay, I trust you." It seems insane but all of this is insane. "But not just me, they said they can get us both out. So we're both going." Jayce said he wasn't going to leave her and he meant it. And the kids wouldn't have said that if they didn't mean it. Apparently. If she's right that these constructs are helpful and not planning on leading them into disaster.
