assembles: (swallow sadness)

[ Even with Steve's trip to the border between Thorne and Solvunn, it's not like he really has much of an idea of what life is like there, save what people like Wanda and Thor have told him. The contrast between idyllic farm life and human sacrifice is pretty damn jarring, though.

Something pointed them in a new direction. That sounds ominous and he wants to know more, but Wanda has her own set of questions.

He steps over to also try and look at the books with her, but the information within is either nonsensical or it just refuses to stick in his mind. He heaves out a sigh as he returns one of the books to the shelf, then turns to Wanda. ]

A lot died, and then plenty more came back from the dead and had to be burned to ash. [ It wasn't pretty, to say the least. ] Murdock was one of the people who helped out — that's who I meant by your friend.

[ He drops that in, seeing that they have the time for it now, keeping a close watch on Wanda's reaction out of curiosity. From there, he moves toward a nearby window and peers out. The level of the ooze has definitely gone up since last they checked, but they appear to be safe enough for now. They really have no choice but to ride this out, anyway. ]

... And if it isn't about the war, then what is it?
