None of it is easy for him, she knows. But the efforts he's making are monumental, and she appreciates it more than he could know. It's a strange feeling, really, being comforted by him. Strange in that it's a foreign thing between them, but it isn't bad. Just different.

"Understood," she echoes softly. A small, sad ghost of a smile spreads across her lips at his promise. That isn't really what she'd want, but... she understands the real meaning behind it- it isn't about razing cities, but protecting her. And she does believe he can do that. He has been already for years. Why would he stop now?
