the question is so quiet, so short, and yet it cuts through her worse than if he had yelled at her for being wrong. tears blur her vision, her throat dry, because maybe she really doesn't. why is matt saying this? didn't he say that she was right to feel the way she had? is this what he really thinks about her?

when one singular tv screen turns on, it startles her, but she's silent, quiet tears trailing down her cheeks as the picture comes to focus. matt, looking younger, and a womanβ€”it's that woman that stirs in his mind so often, and her thoughts connect to that word she wasn't certain of: elektra.

violence, anger, this want to break and destroy. it's right there on the tv.
