[ After the adventures that Thancred has been made to go on each and every time that he's entered the Horizon as of late, he's starting to regret ever coming here. It seems like almost any time that he decides to use the Horizon as an escape of sorts from the problems plaguing the waking world, it ends up being a terrible decision.

Besides, if he thinks about it for a moment, it makes sense. Their afflictions seem to derive from the old gods that Himeka and her Solvunn friends prodded into wakefulness. Not that he's blaming them, exactly, there was no way to know this is what would come of their sacrifices, but—

If something affects the Summoned while awake, it's bound to also distort the Horizon in some way.

Which is how he ends up appearing not on the solid ground of another's Horizon (he would have been annoyed, but willing to put up with that), but about five yalms above it. Thancred has little time to do anything more than let out a startled yell before gravity takes hold and he falls straight down. Yet instead of landing on concrete, it's Nero's van that breaks his fall.

Thancred's expecting his landing to hurt much more than it does. The material he falls onto dents and bends under his weight, and while it's still painful, he's had worse.

For now, at least, he's oblivious to whose domain this is (or the fact that Nero is in the van itself) as he groans and rolls onto his back on the van's roof. He spreads out his limbs and stares up at the cloudy sky above, heaving out a sigh.

What did he do to deserve this? ]
