There's a blink—almost as though he's been caught off-guard. Out of all the things he imagined Lucifer would want, what he is and his relationship to Dean hadn't factored in. Perhaps that's on him for not giving it enough thought one way or another; he's presumed his presence has gone mostly unheeded since. Lucifer had soundly ignored him in those woods beyond when they fought—which had suited him fine.

Does the answer matter? Not really. Lucifer need only throw a rock in the Horizon to strike someone who can tell him all about the Witcher. But that's not the point.

He releases his grip on the handle. An audible lock clicks back into place. His gaze flicks to the door, like he hadn't done it consciously. It is possible, maybe, to gather that Geralt's problem with this room is not necessarily what it reveals and more that what lies within is something he doesn't want to—almost can't—physically acknowledge.

"You need to leave."
