If anything has come out of Sam's second holiday season in Abraxas, it is the fact this whole everything will never, actually, stop being weird. The fact there is a picture-perfect image of his childhood home in a place that isn't even real? Yeah. But also, Sam is practical. Sam knows that the distance they've all been keeping and the way the factions are working is something that can fracture them, and continue to fracture them, and he'd be an idiot not to use this imaginary mindscape to be able to cross that distance.
The house though - it feels complete like this, Sam thinks. Knows. It was always during the holidays, full of people, when it felt like something slotted into place. What Jo sees is a combination of a mixture of memories, yes, but a preparation for something picturesque, whether or not it was ever real.
He's inside, somewhere near the back, when he hears the sound of her voice. "Coming!" He calls back, and a moment later steps down the hallway as he wipes his hands. "Better be something good."
