[ OPEN ] turkey-time and all that follows.
What: it's the time of year and with all these new faces as well as with everything going on, sam thinks it's time for another all summoned not!thanksgiving
Where: sam's horizon
When: end of November/beginning of December
Warnings: will update as necessary.
THE SETUP
As per Sam's invitation, come dinner time, his horizon is going to be full fall aesthetic. The trees will have changed, there will be a slight chill in the air (no matter how it's usually hotter than this in Louisiana in November), and everything will be decorated in prime Fall Decorations - so many pumpkins, so many candles, so much Hallmark Card Thanksgiving, minus any weird pilgrim/puritan bs. Inside the house will be a kind of organized chaos - tables and ingredients and food everywhere. Because while Sam could magic the whole meal together, he's much more about putting in the work, so this not!thanksgiving is old school. If you show up early, you will be assigned a job, and Sam can tell if you cheat and just Horizon something together.
Outside in the front lawn area is a large, long dining room table. Come dinner, it will be a picture-perfect image of a Thanksgiving Meal. Everything you could want and then more will be set out, and there will be a setting for everyone, no matter how many people show up. There's no seating arrangement, so find a place and take a seat, chat it up with whoever is to your right, left, or sitting across from you. The only magic that Sam is going to allow at this point is the fact that the table will always be the perfect size - whether that is smaller or larger. There is plenty of booze, plenty of food, and more than enough desserts, and Sam is really just looking for a casual, nice time of it.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of opportunities for more people to help - just imagine the dishes, y'all. But even then Sam will be playing host, making sure everyone has what they need, even if what they need is an Adirondack chair by a fire pit and a blanket to pass the hell out. Either way, his entire Horizon is open, save for the one room upstairs that is always locked. OOC INFO
- this is a totally open post! I've got a TL below for various scenarios you can find Sam, but otherwise have fun, meet some people, put up a TL of your own!
- Sam's only Rule is there will be no fighting. You want to duke it out? Take it somewhere else. There will not be warnings or second chances. Don't be an ass. This is his home, respect it, or he'll have your ass thrown out. He's not afraid of squaring up, but you will not be invited back if you chaos too many issues. :)
- this is open to any and all Summoned, no matter loyalties or factions. Sam is going to be going overboard to be welcoming, especially to new faces. Even if your character didn't see the big invitation, feel free to have them invited by word of mouth.
- any questions? message me at disarmingly

[there's a pinch of sarcasm to it, expressing quite plainly that wanda feels very much the same as hilda. wanda can think of better magical ways to make an entrance in any other world, and that is not one of them.]
About eleven months in my world, from my count. [she doesn't want to assume that everyone comes from the same earth.] I suppose it helps keep track of everyone when there are others you know also summoned to Abraxas.
[which leads her to her next question—]
Any familiar faces from home?
no subject
Maybe a cup of tea? A warm sauna and some comfier, stylish clothes than the military fatigues they gave us?
[ Or perhaps, not being brought here at all – but that thought doesn’t pass Hilda’s lips because she isn’t even certain that she wants that knowing what she had been pulled from.
Her wide-eyed reaction is a clear indication that she hadn’t expected to hear eleven months. Wanda didn’t seem too bothered by the time she’s been here, but then again Hilda didn’t know her well enough ]
I have some friends here, thankfully. Maybe you know them? There’s Petra, Sylvain, Claude – oh, and Felix. He arrived at the same time I did but he’s a little prickly. Almost like an angry cat. [ At the rate Hilda was going around introducing Felix, people were going to start associating him with cats, but that was exactly what she was hoping for. ]
no subject
Felix sounds like a name for a cat.
[—in any case,]
I've met the other three. I've known Claude the longest, but Petra and Sylvain have been around for a while, too. [hm. she can take away some of what claude has told her about his world and try to see if it befits hilda, but it's really hard to tell. she takes a sip of the champagne to give herself pause before her words leave her lips.] Claude and I meet for tea once a month. We promised to bring food to try out—
Pretty sure he brought some already-made baked goods, but I didn't want to tell him I knew. He danced around the subject quite well, too.
no subject
You could mention that to him if you ever meet him. Or maybe don’t. It depends if you want to get on his grumpy side.
[ Hearing that she’s familiar with her other three friends definitely piqued her interest. She lets out a gasp, both offended for Wanda and appalled at Claude and her brows knit together. ]
He didn’t! Claude should know better than to show up somewhere invited with an already baked good. [ Hilda isn’t much of a chef either but she at least knows the value of a home baked offering. ] Was it good at least?
no subject
[wanda knows what it's like with guys like that; they're fun to tease, and she will be in a very tight spot before she gives hilda up. besides, how bad could it be?
in any case—claude's blunder with the already-made baked goods seem to take precedence here. she nods solemnly at the appalled denouncement of claude's actions.]
It was absolutely delicious.
[that, at least, is fact. she smiles a bit but keeps her expression steady.]
Are you two close?
no subject
If she was anyone’s handler (if she could call him that) it’s Claude’s. ]
Well if he ever shows up with anything not delicious, you can come to me, okay? I’ll be sure to put him in his place. Or [ She grins cheekily. ] You could invite me next time. I definitely make a better tea mate than Claude.
[ And while she answers Wanda’s question easily enough, internally a part of her hesitates. There are things she knows he’s keeping from her even if it’s with good intent; did that still make them close? She doesn’t miss a beat however, certainty in her voice. ]
We are. We attend school together along with the others I mentioned. It was only for about a year but we experienced a lot.
[ A lot was an understatement especially since they likely had more to experience in the future. ]
wanda taking the role of byleth with these tea dates
[can you tell she's been around americans a lot? hilda earns herself a smile from wanda, followed by a huff that could very well be an amused snort.]
You should join us next time. Look out for the days we're allowed to go to Nocwich, that's when we meet.
[and, actually, about this school... she's seen it, in sylvain's horizon, and she's definitely heard of it. part of her wonders—]
You'll have to tell me about this school. Even if it was just for a year, I'm sure there are plenty of fun stories to tell.
[because, well, her classroom for a good part of her teenage years was a room in the orphanage, and that wasn't very exciting at all.]
she really is and the femblems love her for it
I’d love that. In return, you can tell me what you’ve been up to here.
[ The lack of talk about Wanda’s home didn’t go unnoticed, but a part of Hilda had to wonder if that was because she hadn’t asked her anything or if it was for a reason. Regardless, it wasn’t her place to pry – but maybe she’d slip a couple of questions in here or there if the opportunity presented itself.
Realising that there was more commotion outside than there had been before, Hilda begins to inch her way towards the door, waving. ]
I promised I’d go and help Sam with some of the table settings but it was so nice meeting you, Wanda. Good luck with the turkey!
