the ship, Dec 21st | Michael

It would have been foolish to think there wouldn't be such near-immediate consequences to Lucifer's actions, but he had hoped, freakishly, that there would be a bit more time.

It's why he hadn't bothered to sequester away into their room, thinking it better to "keep up appearances" and all that. Neither Lucifer nor Istredd were particularly social, but Lucifer had been making a point to keep an eye on Thorne, and he wasn't going to go MIA from public while Istredd was legitimately MIA from the entire boat. Enough people knew they were consistently in each other's presence (Lucifer ignored and said nothing on the rumors around Thorne); he wasn't incriminating himself in this idiotic Singularity mess.

So it's as he's moving about the ship's halls, minding his business, "staying out of trouble" and all of that, when the pain screeches over the fresh mental link. In his shock he careens into the nearest wall, arms folded over his chest and pressed in tight as he clenches his eyes closed, sweat beading at his brows, and tries to ride out the intense pain that isn't subsiding.
