[ Said with a grin and an obvious joking air. His love for music isn’t really just a hobby. In fact, he doesn’t really know where he’d be without it, but he knows he talks a big talk, and not everything he says can be backed up with actual skill.

You make a fella want to learn. That’s what makes him light up. When he first really started listening to music, hearing the way some of his favorite musicians could make a piece of wood and strings just sing was what turned love into an obsession. He’s never compare himself to those guys, but it’s nice to know that his playing had a similar effect on someone. ]

I’m not gonna say I’m a great teacher, but if you wanna learn, I can give it a shot. And hey, I’m gonna let you in on a little secret—

[ He drops his voice to a low and dramatic whisper. ]

I don’t actually know how to read music either.

[ Not only was sheet music was always deceptively expensive, but he never felt any real need or desire to learn. He can name chords and most notes, but he learned to play by ear and that always felt like more than enough.

Maybe he should learn at some point, just to say he did. ]
