Paranoia is something Kol is intimately familiar with, it's staying his hand that he always had issues with. It's easier to do here, for the moment. There are no expectations on him in this place and it makes everything feel so different than it had back home. No shadow to live in. No name or reputation to live up to. But some things never change, and he's had no reason to let his guard down here yet.
