[ Sylvain casts him a curious glance at that, head tipped slightly to the side as he thinks over those words. ]
Do you not have healers in your world? It must have been a very strong plague. [ It had been known to happen in Fodlan, too, especially in the more rural areas where they had less access to clerics and other healers. But a plague that swept the entire world... that must have been devastating. He couldn't even imagine such a thing.
But he lets the topic shift to the bustling town around them, glancing around at their surroundings with a crooked smile. ] I'm glad they've opened it up to us. That they allow this to be neutral ground for all of us. I know there are some who are separated by Faction and this is their only chance to see one another. I've been lucky - the friends I have here from home are all in the Free Cities with me, but I still show up here keeping an eye out, just in case.
The gambling halls are pretty fun, though. I can show you around a bit, if you like? Was there something you were interested in seeing?
Iโm immune to diseases. We do have healers. Sometimes a virus is powerful enough. It prevented people from truly going out for nearly two years. { at least the timeframe he was taken from still had policies for wearing masks. the world had become quieter. he prefers brushing past it, and instead his mouth twitches as his tone drawls when heโs inspired. }
Makes it better when in good company. Iโm glad your friends are with you. Probably made recovery better. If you donโt mind, Iโll certainly wouldnโt turn away your company. { heโs being modest for now. part of him did want to make sure they were alright, especially when it has been a few in the wet tunnel before the other group found them. thereโs a pause when it catches up to him that he might find home dwellers at nocwich. thereโs slight hope to the possibility for certain people heโd like to see again. }
Iโll have to keep an eye out. Truthfully, my intent had been to get blood wines. Do you have a favorite spot here?
[ A plague that ravaged people for two years? How did the world still function? He can't even imagine it. ]
It did make recovery better. At least until they ganged up on me and wouldn't help me break out of the hospital when I was feeling better. [ Okay, so maybe he'd still looked half-dead but that was beside the point. ] And I've got nothing else going on at the moment, we can go see what there is to find today?
I don't know if I have a favorite spot yet. I guess maybe the marketplace? There's always something new and interesting and maybe a little weird to find there. Bet we could find a merchant for your blood wine, too. I think I know where to look for that... [ He hums, trying to remember where he'd seen it. ]
{ thereโs a slight glint to his eyes since heโs capable of his own rebellion. he just isnโt one to be open nowadays about it. heโd found castiel who had unexpectedly given him a means to make his own blunt. not that the smoking actually has an effect on him, he just needed something, away from the hospital and endless concerned people. it was also when lestat was out and about, or else he wouldnโt have been able to. }
Figures I should get to know the marketplace. Maybe I beat you too a favorite spot. Someone showed me a park, but enough of my old man tendencies. I saw a tattoo shop somewhere back there.
{ heโs mostly joking, naming what has caught his eye on the way here. }
[ He grins at the admission, giving a short laugh. ] I came close a few times, but eventually ended up coercing a friend to smuggle me out. But I got a lot better rest back at the Inn anyway, so it was probably for the best.
[ It had been nice to be 'home' again, for as much as the Inn could be called that these days. Even if not for much longer.
At the mention of the tattoo parlor, however, Sylvain just smirks at him and casts him a sideways glance. ] Yeah, I know where that is. They're very good at what they do, too. I can show you, if that's what you were interested in seeing? Otherwise we could just wander about the marketplace, I suppose? You stumble across more new and interesting places that way, I think.
{ he does have a home now, in the literal sense of not sleeping with his coffin at the edge of the woods. heโs grateful he shares a room with carl now. if anything louis sees solvunn with a fresh perspective. minus the unsavory execution, but heโs not here for that. for now he will see what the brief connections he made these months will become. }
Letโs wander a little, and if Iโm inspired Iโll consider tatting up. I doubt itโll stick. My healing does not allow me to have it. Itโll also make my mama roll in her grave.
{ he motions towards the marketplace, his expression serene and he may be serious or he may not on the tattoo matter. the plethora of folks are louder if he focuses on them. he can hear someone haggling from a ways down. louis takes a few steps forward in a random direction, speaking as he walks backwards. }
To using our well rounded rest. Do you have roommates in the Free Cities?
[ He chuckles at that, tucking his hands into his pocket as he turns to fall into step with Louis, content to wander for the time being. ]
Some would say that's reason enough to do it right there. But they might have a way of giving you one. From what I understand, the werewolves and vampires here are hardier than humans, and they seem to have no problem with them. It is a town originally meant to cater to their needs. We're still the guests here.
[ But he lets the matter drop, since it's Louis' decision. He's just always here to instigate a little fun, when he can get away with it. ]
I do, yeah. Most of us there take up residence in one of the Inns when we first arrive, those of us with no interest in joining the military. [ Which is most of them. ] The owner is friendly and generous to us and trades room and board for our help in keeping the inn and tavern running, so all in all it's a pretty good deal. You met Claude already - he's been here a little longer than me and he found me shortly after I arrived. Since we came from the same world, we stuck pretty close. Same with Hilda, another of our friends who arrived a few months later. There were a few others, too, but we're currently the only three remaining.
[ There's a pang of grief at that, the loss of Petra still fresh and sharp. Marianne, too, even though she'd only been here a short time, almost the same way Felix had. ]
