[wanda will, gracefully, let him have that first. her heart is beating like crazy and she hopes he doesn't make a comment on it. it feels a little more special now, doesn't it, to be kissed by him after they've told each other how they feel.]
I... [she lets her hands rest over his shoulder, happy to remain with his arms wrapped around her] —wanted to tell you before all that happened. I hated that — I could have lost you without you knowing how I felt.
[but it didn't happen, and they're both here now — well, in separate factions, but they're okay now. wanda can't keep herself from laughing into his lips, but letting herself be swayed by his drawing her closer through the action alone.
it really seems like they've opened the dams now, almost seeming like every sentence they say is going to end with an 'i love you', huh?
the music has stopped as has their dancing, but then there's a loud bark and a scramble of claws on the hardwood floor. there comes mary, trotting up over them, tail wagging excitedly as she winds around their legs.]
Oh. [that's right] Sorry, I stole her a few days back.
[mary has been great company in the garden, even if she keeps digging up holes.]
[wanda proceeds to sit on the floor, knees first, so that she can also get into this cuddling situation with mary, who is far too excited to be held and petted by both humans. wanda leans into the fluffy dog, pressing her face against her fur, and looking up with a smile.]
I love you.
[it feels so silly to say it, but now that they're here, it also feels impossible to just not say it at random.
wanda starts laughing when mary turns her head to lick up and down wanda's face.]
[matt sitting down means that mary turns her attention more fervently towards him, which gives wanda a break from having dog drool licked all over her face. she leans heavily against mary, who is a big enough dog to handle her weight.]
Truth be told, I didn't come into the Horizon that much the past couple of weeks.
[there is that name again, of that woman that matt had tried to save—likely lost his life for in the process. he's been tight-lipped about the relationship prior to that moment, but—wanda?—she gets it. she doesn't need him to explain to her what all his relationships were about, especially if it's difficult for him.
at times, many a times, she's guilty of thinking of vision while with him.
( and he really does like the sound of that. he laces his fingers with hers and then pulls her closer to him, leaning in to kiss her nose and cheek and then down at her lips, slowly. )
[wanda can't help the smile that tugs the corners of her lips upwards as he kisses her, sets down a trail for his lips to follow, like he wants to venerate her.
tugged in to be embraced, she wraps her arms around his middle, even with mary between them.]
—I've never said it to anyone before.
[this much she wants to share with him, a quiet and soft confession.]
Never got the chance to.
[and so, here, with him, this is very special to her—it's so important to her.]
[it's comfortable enough when matt leans his weight against her, as he leans into her. they could have picked anywhere else to sit—on the couch, for instance—but the floor works just fine. she tilts her head up so that he presses cheek against her temple.]
[don't get her thinking about ways that she could totally take it back, though she doesn't have any intention in doing so. it feels too good to want to abandon, this thing between them, even if it's just ephemeral and limited to so many different circumstances in abraxas.
make the most of it, right? because this time is all they have, and, knowing her luck, it could all so easily be taken away.
wanda pulls back to look up at him.]
I mean it, you don't have to tell anyone. [it's like the secret of matt being able to 'see' despite his blindness. no one else needs to be privy to what they have—the extent of what they have.] Unless it comes up. You're lucky Sam, Steve, and Natasha like you enough.
[the three of them are far too friendly to give matt trouble, she thinks, but there is always the consideration of how much more troublesome it'd be for wanda to navigate this thing for matt if the three thought that he was somehow not good enough for her.
vision, after all, left shoes too big to fill. wanda's glad no one is drawing comparisons.]
Okay, he's one that would definitely threaten someone with violence.
[and likely death. even if jesper has never been too upfront about how he copes with all the anger that builds up inside him, wanda has a feeling that he's a rather convincing individual with a deadly weapon.]
Good thing there's nothing for you to worry about.
Yet.
[hm. he earns himself a kiss on the cheek as wanda leans against him, for all that the subtle threatening does to him.]
no subject
( he makes a face at her and then laughs before he pulls her closer to him and kisses her once, twice.
that's when he finally murmurs: )
I love you and I said it first even if I didn't. You cheated.
no subject

no subject
( he does know. he sighs and reaches up, hands brushing against her cheeks before he leans in and kisses her again. )
But that didn't happen. I'm here, I'm okay.
( he's getting better in the real world and he's fine right now too. )
And I love you.

( that was probably smart. even if she couldn't get hurt in the horizon or hungry or anything like that, he's glad that someone had been with her.
matt reaches down and let's mary push into his hand, nuzzling and rubbing her face against his palm. )
I think that's okay. She's kind of...ours, isn't she?
no subject
I love you.
[it feels so silly to say it, but now that they're here, it also feels impossible to just not say it at random.
wanda starts laughing when mary turns her head to lick up and down wanda's face.]
—Mary!
no subject
( matt grins and then moves to settle himself down with wanda and mary, scritching the dog's fur and trying to encourage her to lick wanda again.
she deserved it. )
Was she a good girl while I was gone?
no subject
Truth be told, I didn't come into the Horizon that much the past couple of weeks.
—have you ever said that to anyone before?
[she obviously has to circle back to his words.]
no subject
( he let's the dog basically barrel her way into his lap, nuzzling underneath his chin while he rubs at her back. )
A long time ago.
( he hadn't gotten there with karen or claire but he had with elektra.
once upon a time. )

wanda reaches for his hand.]
It's you and me now, okay?
no subject
( and he really does like the sound of that. he laces his fingers with hers and then pulls her closer to him, leaning in to kiss her nose and cheek and then down at her lips, slowly. )
I like the sound of that.
( with another tug, he reaches to embrace her. )

( he's never going to stop hearing those words over and over in his head, reveling in that they're directed at him and that she loves him.
he sighs and holds her close, eyes falling shut. )
When Nocwich opens up, we'll say it there too.
no subject
Don't make it embarrassing.
[like the way he had gone about her birthday.]
I just want to spend our time together there.
no subject
( don't worry, there's no chance of that happening. )
I don't plan on it. I wouldn't want you to take it back.
( not that he thinks she'll do that. )
no subject

( it's not a secret but he doesn't need to advertise it either. )
If they didn't like me enough, there'd be trouble?
no subject

vision, after all, left shoes too big to fill. wanda's glad no one is drawing comparisons.]
They haven't said anything to you, have they?
[she doesn't know about jesper.]
no subject
( he pauses a little too long because yeah, he's thinking about jesper too. )
Nothing I can't handle.
no subject
What was that pause for? Did someone say something?
[oh my god, who was it— she can't imagine any of the avengers-types saying something.]
no subject
( he laughs at her sudden question. )
A lot of people care about you.
no subject
I haven't asked anyone to tell you anything threatening. You know that, right? [wanda would do the threatening herself.] Just— tell me who it was.
[she presses her hands against his shoulders, drawing closer.]
I just want to know. I'm not going to snitch you out.
[so, snitch the other person out, matt!]
no subject
Jesper...is very fond of you.
( very, very fond. )
And he wanted to make sure I knew that.
no subject

no subject
( that's what his aim is, at least. he doesn't want to give wanda any reason to be upset with him or her friends.
and he doesn't want jesper to shoot him. )
Most of your friends would know you could take care of me if I ever did anything but I know Jesper was serious.
(no subject)
(no subject)
we can probably wrap this one!!
