[ Eddie will be first and the loudest to tell you how little he enjoys a party, and he would have absolutely skipped this gala entirely if he weren’t granted the opportunity to do what he loves to do most: perform.
He’s used to performing in the dim, musty confines of dive bars with audience numbers in the single digits. Solvunn isn't big, but it's bigger than that, and he puts as time and effort as he can manage into making an enjoyable show. There's really nothing to celebrate, so Eddie's darker brand of music makes for a good fit. If you come from a world or time similar to his own, you may recognize most of the songs he performs as covers, but he winds his way through a handful of original compositions that make him desperately miss his bandmates from home. To his own ears, everything sounds thinner without a rhythm section, and there are moments where he longs for backup vocals.
But he is his own biggest critic, and the show must go on. It just appears as though his solos career has come about a little sooner than intended. It’s just him and an acoustic guitar that’s been enchanted to sound as close to an electric as magic will allow, and honestly? It’s not bad. It’s loud and noisy and his energy is off the charts, and it’s clear less than halfway through the first song that this is Eddie Munson in his element.
He’s quite the performer, and he’d play forever if they let him, whether the audience likes it or not, but he’s only been allotted a set amount of time, so he ultimately takes his bow and trudges offstage. Feel free to find him guzzling as much water as he can find after that riveting performance. ]
