Mid-April, you receive two formal invitations. They arrive separately in two distinct envelopes and do not appear to be precisely related.

◎ The first is from Solvunn, signed and sealed by the Solvunn Council. It informs the reader that on April 18th, Josselyn Creed's fate will be publicly carried out according to Solvunn's traditions with the Old Gods. The location is in neutral territory, a safe distance from the Singularity's crater. The Council expresses deep regret for the actions of one of their own and invites you to attend as an observer if you wish to find closure. Portals are provided. The proceedings will be in the morning.

◎ The second is from your respective faction. The letter is less solemn and invites you to attend a weekend gala on April 21st - 23rd. It acknowledges that recent times have been difficult and that faction officials and locals wish to repay the Summoned for their contributions. Portals to each location are provided.

Divine Judgment

In the weeks leading up to Josselyn Creed's execution, many of you were allowed to question Josselyn. Now that you've received the answers you're seeking - as much as you were able to - officials have granted you the chance to gain some closure and witness her execution.

The factions will warn the Summoned that Solvunn does not take angering the Gods lightly. Her death will not be quick and will likely be sacrificial. They advise anyone who may not have the stomach for it to remain home and enjoy the festivities at the end of the week.

Attending her execution is optional and open to all. New arrivals are welcome to watch...though they may not want to. All characters may skip this portion of the event.

Participants of Event #12 are still welcome to speak to Josselyn. This section will close on April 30th.

Last Rites

CW: Disturbing imagery, animal death, ritualistic sacrifice, body horror.

So that all can attend, Solvunn will perform Josselyn's last rites in neutral territory. Anyone who attended the Peace Summit last year will recognize the area, though the colorful tents are gone. In their place are some plain stone benches and a temporary altar. Thick mists roll into the valley, bringing a chill to the air. As you arrive, you see Solvunn mages instructing volunteers to right certain stones as the last touches are added. Present to represent the other two factions are Jolene Sybell of Thorne and Reva Hym of the Free Cities.

The stones are arranged in spiraling circles, with twelve arches that span them. Carved into the ground beneath the arches are each of the Major Arcana. Find your matching Arcana and leave an offering if you want. You're told the gesture will appease the gods and ensure the "cleansing" is successful.

The Moon, Josselyn Creed's Arcana, has been carved into the center stone. If you share her Arcana or are The Emperor or Justice, Solvunn mages will approach and ask you to write your name in charcoal into the stone. If you bear any of the other signs, you can also do so, but you won't be asked directly.

Preparation

Soon, a hush falls over the crowd as Isar Hart comes forward with a black sheep in tow. Several Solvunn Elders flank the sheep as it's placed before the altar. They paint large winding lines and runes on its wool and face. Winifred Bordeaux turns to the crowd. She states that the wrongs born of the commune are always made right by Solvunn's hands and seeks forgiveness. The gods may cast judgment as they see fit.

Mages begin a haunting chant in an ancient tongue. With a large bone knife, Winifred kneels next to the sheep and slices its throat. As warm blood flows over the ground, it fills each etched Arcana sigil. The sigils glow a faint red upon contact, and the grass around them withers and blackens. Once fully drained, the Elders carefully skin the sheep. Its organs are placed in jars as it is hollowed out. With the skin removed, the Elders lay it on the altar and declare that those who stray from the gods must be brought back into the fold.

One of the stones vibrates, releasing Josselyn Creed into the hands of waiting Elders. As she's dragged to the altar's center, she decries Solvunn for being blind, accusing them of turning away from the truth. The old ways have long stopped serving them, she declares. The Old Gods are no longer listening.

Penance

Holding her in place, Rowan March places the skin of the black sheep upon her. The wool stretches outward to envelop her limbs, covering every part of her in the pelt and muffling her shouts. As each bone bends and snaps loudly in the silence to take the form of a sheep, her body collapses with anguished cries. Finally, a mass of quivering wool and human sinew is left, the sheep's face ajar on her broken skull.

The chanting reaches a crescendo, then stops abruptly. The mist thickens, swirling towards the altar. Your surroundings darken. From the gloom comes a massive bird-like silhouette. Its enormous wings shadow the sky, blocking out the sun. Though the figure's form is obscured, the dozens of vultures that descend are visible - and so is the feast that ensues.

Through the fog and shadow, you glimpse blood and flesh tearing. Slowly, the mist begins to clear as each bird takes its fill. The silhouette above withdraws. What remains before you is a pile of bones picked clean...and the recognizable head of Josselyn Creed beneath the sheep's mask, the only part of her uneaten.

Immolation

The Council allows all in attendance to confirm Josselyn's identity and her fate, ensuring that the factions and the Summoned are satisfied with the outcome. A ritual fire lights up on the altar. Her head is placed in first by one of the Elders.

The rest of her bones are in the sheepskin. No blood or flesh remains. The pelt is startlingly clean for such a gory display. You're invited to paint your Arcana on a bone and place the bone into the fire as a gesture to the gods that you've accepted the punishment they chose for her.

The atmosphere is solemn. Winifred offers her thanks on behalf of the Council for allowing Solvunn to make amends for Josseyn's misdeeds. They deeply regret this was necessary but promise they'll take steps to ensure it never happens again.

A few remain to watch her bones finish burning. You may join them if you like or return home at once. A harsh silence fills the ceremonial grounds as you step through the portal.

Weekend Gala

Several days after the execution, the cities prepare for the feast and gala. On the day of, portals will open up in the main hub of each city: Castle Thorne in Thorne, the Primary Settlement in Solvunn, and Cadens in the Free Cities.

You're welcome to arrive on the first day or skip the speeches and arrive on the second day for the main dinner and event. Everyone will be sent home on the third day (April 23rd), though the factions would be happy if you'd like to volunteer to clean up and take down decorations before you go. Not to worry if you'd rather go home - they have plenty of staff and locals for the job.

Each city will provide a place for you to stay for the weekend. They'll choose their best inns for you, except Solvunn. Solvunn will offer a comfortable communal tent for all attendees to share.

Thorne (Hayle)

The first evening, the King and Queen will gather guests into a grand hall at Hayle University. The King formally welcomes and expresses Thorne's gratitude for everyone's safe return. He heralds the Summoned and those involved in the terrible incident for their fortitude and bravery. The Queen follows afterward, adding that she is glad justice has been served and that they can be assured Josselyn Creed can never harm anyone again. She acknowledges the formation of the Summoned Conclave and promises Thorne will always serve those who are steadfast in their loyalty.

In a rare moment, Ambrose Rhett and the Duchess, Anastasia Rhett, can be spotted standing side by side in the background. Jolene Sybell is also present. Ambrose, however, will not be seen past the welcoming speech, returning to the Castle after.

Gifts

As a resident of Thorne, you'll receive a gift bag containing:

◎ A sweet dream potion that grants the user happy dreams and a good night's sleep. A basic spell, these potions were made by schoolchildren in Hayle as a thank-you gift for the Summoned. The custom label on each bottle has your name handwritten and decorated by the kids. If you're known around the Castle, it might contain a drawing that represents your reputation - for example, a flower if you have a green thumb. They've been told a bit about the Summoned by officials and their teachers.

◎ A jade turtle that, when placed in a bowl or pool of water, is enchanted to swim around. A novel decorative piece that calls back to the giant sea turtle which came to aid you and your friends on Thorne's shores.

◎ A soothing galaxy orb that displays the starry night sky within. When placed in front of some light, it'll cast a pretty sparkle over your surroundings.

Surroundings

Located far north, Hayle is most famous for its beautiful crystalline architecture. The weather is warmer now that spring has arrived, but relatively cool with temperatures dipping at night. Vast mountains are in the distance for a breathtaking view.

Hayle bustles with vibrant energy and a diverse population. Where Castle Thorne closely follows the formal traditions of the nobility and traditional Academic Magic, Hayle is trendier with innovative spellwork, the newest designs in fashion, and a vast library of knowledge.

◎ Arcana Deck Exhibit
Expensive custom-crafted Arcana decks are under glass cases like fine jewels. One notable attraction is an exhibit displaying one-of-a-kind decks designed by famous artists or enchanted by renowned mages in Thorne's history. Some boast intricately painted designs and real gold, while others use precious gems embedded in the cards themselves. One preserved deck is carved entirely on pinewood.

◎ Boutiques
Boutiques sell tailored clothes and fine jewelry that include Arcana-inspired accessories. Luxury magical tools are also available such as gold scales for weighing potion ingredients. Some bookshops specialize in signed or antique copies. The contents are nothing special, but editions are considered collectibles. Though most aren't for sale except to the wealthiest individuals, you're free to look.

◎ Makeover & Performers
Street performers occupy every corner around Hayle: stories told through illusions, musician-less instruments, and juggling acts that incorporate impressive balls of colorful light. You can get your portrait drawn by an enchanted paintbrush or volunteer for one of the illusionists to give you a temporary "makeover." The makeover will grant you one or more features of your choosing that will last 24 hours: a new hair or eye color (including unnatural shades!), translucent illusory wings (they won't get in the way), or decorative nails.

Personal shopping and styling assistance is also offered by Lenore and Natasha Romanoff.

Banquet

The banquet takes place on the second evening, held in Hayle University's finest ballroom. Decorations are delicate and elegant. The chandelier above drips with crystals and gold.

Although you'll have an assigned seat to start with, there's no need to stay where you are. Guests are encouraged to mingle and wander around. Make friends, meet new people, and introduce yourselves!

◎ Food & Drink
A formal multi-course dinner will be served throughout the night. The wine flows freely and food is abundant. Thorne is known for its exquisite cuisine, and Hayle is no different. With the harsh winter over and farmlands slowly recovering from the attack last summer, the nation is no longer struggling as much with supplies. Dishes include stuffed duck, delicate fish, rare nutty cheeses, soup, and plenty of cakes and biscuits.

◎ Entertainment
Formal entertainment involves music, dancing, and magic shows. You're welcome to take the stage yourself, of course! If you're not good at what you do, the citizens won't boo you off the stage, but you'll feel an awkward atmosphere begin to build, and word might spread about your act. The nobility in Thorne has exacting standards and a penchant for gossip.

Musical performances include original compositions on the violin and piano by Lestat de Lioncourt and elvish songs by Elrond, while Lord John Grey will recite some poetry and music. Magical displays include illusory lights featuring the Arcana signs by Istredd, flashy divination magicks channeled through a tarot deck by Urianger, and a light-based display of intricate mandalas Stephen Strange - whose third eye may be glimpsed beneath his hood when he casts his Eldritch magic.

◎ Night's End
The banquet runs late into the night, though you can leave any time. A carriage will be waiting to take you back to your inn. You can stay for one last social breakfast in the morning before returning to Castle Thorne through the portal.

Free Cities (Libertas)

The first evening, the Prime Minister will gather guests by the mosaic sculpture in the Willow Memorial Park. Prime Minister Marlo expresses her gratitude for everyone's safe return and apologizes for the atrocities that occurred under her watch. The bravery and fortitude of those involved will be remembered. Fortunately, justice has found those responsible, and the city can begin to march forward. She acknowledges the formation of the Summoned Conclave, promising that her government will make sure nothing like this ever happens again to its people. The Summoned are, of course, people of the Free Cities regardless of where they came from.

Quilleth Kaur takes the stand afterward, addressing the tragedy that struck Libertas not long ago and personally thanking the Summoned for their help in rescuing survivors and rebuilding the city. This includes the construction of the park itself, led by two of the Free Cities' longest Summoned residents. She bids everyone to enjoy the festivities. They deserve to relax and feast after a harrowing experience.

Gifts

As a resident of the Free Cities, you'll receive a gift basket containing:

◎ Tickets to a special comeback show by one of Libertas' most famous acrobatic troupes - their first since the city's destruction. The envelope includes a letter which addresses you by name and thanks you for your help. If you've made an impression on the citizens of Libertas, the letter will mention noteworthy things you've contributed, such as volunteer efforts or donations. The tickets grant you the best seats in the house and a free drink during intermission. Performances are held throughout April and May, so you'll have plenty of time to attend.

◎ A kazoo, best used to annoy your friends or heckle anyone you find disagreeable, though beware that the people of Libertas won't hesitate to brawl on the street over insults.

◎ Luxurious bath crystal balls that fizzle and give the water a beautiful shimmer. Infused with medicinal properties, they'll alleviate aching muscles and lingering pains.

Surroundings

Located far south, Libertas is most famous for its subversive attitude and colorful architecture. With winter on the way out, the weather is warm but not scorching hot as it can be in the summer. Rare spring rains have caused flowers to bloom and sprout around the desert.

Libertas is diverse and lax in social norms. Where Cadens boasts the best research and technology, Libertas' focus is on advancements in free thought, art, and knowledge. Following the art walk not long ago and the long-term portal to Libertas, some of these attitudes have filtered into Cadens.

◎ Artist Alleys
The collapse of the city's buildings has caused street art to greatly flourish. Winding alleyways between homes and shops contain paintings, written poetry on the walls, and musical performances. Sculptor Axn Kade, famous for his pieces made of reclaimed metal and his activism for mining safety, has added a new sculpture to the city's streets. The plaque contains a dedication to the Summoned who helped clean up the mining equipment a few months ago, having used the scrap metal gathered during that process.

◎ Gambling Halls & Brews
Rejecting government oversight, Libertas is home to several gambling halls of all types. If you have the money, you're sure to find a spot to suit you. Beware of loan sharks and play at your own risk. Taverns around Libertas are rowdy. They often have an open floor for art performances, poetry readings, and philosophical debates. Always open to new ideas, many places in Libertas host tastings for brews created using innovative flavors and techniques.

◎ Market Square
Though not as large as Aquila's market, the Libertas market square is still a sprawling maze. Anyone with something to sell will have squeezed a table or a stall into the area. Enterprising merchants will give you a demonstration of some of their products, most powered by New Magic: a comb that changes your hair color upon use, eye drops that give your irises an enchanting colorful glow, and disposable crystal accessories that take on the illusion of precious jewels for a short period - invented to undermine the value of gems. Any changes to your appearance are temporary, lasting 24 hours.

Garden Feast

The feast takes place on the second evening, held at the Willow Memorial Park. Glowing orbs of light have been hung from the willow trees while vases made by a local potter feature flowers from the park's wildflower meadows. More details about the park are available under Locales for Libertas.

Provided by Viktor (and Jayce Talis), the center of the garden contains a revolving armillary sphere modeled after the astronomy of Abraxas, casting an atmospheric starry light over the area.

To start with, you'll pull your table number from a hat to receive your "assigned" seat, but there's no need to stay there all night. Guests are encouraged to mingle and wander around. Make friends, meet new people, and introduce yourselves!

◎ Food & Drink
An eclectic array of dishes line a large table at the park's center. Help yourself to what you like in any order. No one will bother you if you start with dessert! Wine, ales, and hard liquors are as plentiful as the food. Dishes include grilled fish and pork, dips and spreads, puddings, sweetbread, cakes, and seasonal fruits common to the desert climate, such as figs and oranges.

◎ Entertainment
Formal entertainment involves music, dancing, and poetry. Artists have been invited to unveil new pieces or showcase old favorites. You're welcome to take the stage yourself, of course! Performers won't be judged on talent so much as passion. As long as you're creative and genuinely enjoy your craft, you'll have the support of the locals.

Jaskier will put on a lute performance, including a ballad of Spyndlveiss containing themes related to the recent disappearances. Diana Prince will recite a short portion of The Iliad, in both Ancient Greek and common. A "blade dancing" display using a painted stave by Obi-wan Kenobi will take place, as well. Finally, Hilda Goneril will draw and paint quick "fashion sketches" to commemorate everyone's style - available to both small groups and individuals.

◎ Night's End
The feast runs late into the night, though you can leave any time. A wagon is available to bring you back to your inn, but most locals prefer to walk, creating a drunken parade of people through the streets while singing cheerfully. You can stay for one last social breakfast in the morning before returning to Cadens through the portal.

Solvunn (Primary Settlement)

The first evening, the two remaining members of the Council, along with Isar Hart, address the gathered, apologizing for the sheep who strayed from their flock. They're especially disappointed with the heretical actions of a trusted community member, whose name they will no longer acknowledge. The gods have cast their judgment, and now the community can come together to heal. The Council promises the newly formed Summoned Conclave that they are vital members of the commune and that Solvunn is here to aid them in whatever they need.

Isar Hart reiterates that his position on the Council is temporary until the seat can be filled, though the Council does not give a date for when this might occur.

Gifts

As a member of the Solvunn Commune, you'll receive a gift bag containing:

◎ A clay mug, handmade by children in the settlements. Each mug is customized for the individual based on what the children have managed to learn about you, painted with what they believe to be your favorite colors, flowers, patterns, or animals. How accurate the kids are about you varies depending on your interactions with them, but they've tried their best. The bottom of the mug is signed by the child who made it for you. If you run into them afterward, they might ask if you like your mug.

◎ Thick and comfortable knitted socks made from the wool of Isar Hart's sheep farm.

◎ A few sachets of herbal teas to help you get a good night's rest and restore your energy. A small thank-you note accompanies the teas, signed by Lorelai and Esmond, who are grateful for the chance to return home.

Surroundings

The southernmost of the settlements, the Secondary Settlement boasts vast sprawling farmlands and a beautiful shoreline overlooking the ocean. Skies are sunny and clear throughout the gathering. Wildflowers bloom across the flat plains, orchards are starting to bear fruit, and fish are plentiful once more.

The Secondary Settlement is sparsely populated but maintains a tight-knit community. Where the Primary Settlement is a hub for schooling, craftspeople, and artisans, the Secondary Settlement is focused on agriculture and livestock: sheep, goats, horses, and fields of crops fill the area. Many families take pride in supplying the commune with produce and materials like wool, eggs, milk, and grains.

◎ Farms & Livestock
Farms are open with fences solely to keep out any predators or pests. You're free to visit the fields and orchards. Pick apricots and cherries, pet the sheep, play with the baby goats, and gather eggs for the evening's potluck. Isar Hart will be pleased to show you his prized black sheep, whose majestic horns are greatly admired. Smaller gardens filled with flowers and herbs are also available to explore. If you'd like to put together bouquets for the evening or make flower wreaths to decorate, you can help yourself. Finally, you can fish to your heart's content in the nearby pond. Bring your catch to dinner!

◎ Shrines
After recent events, shrines around the Secondary Settlement are full of offerings to appease the gods and seek guidance. These offerings consist of animal bones, harvested fruit, and wine. You can add to the shrines if you like or simply visit them. Many shrines hum with magical energy and all previous signs of corruption over the past few weeks have faded. You can ask for blessings of health, luck, or abundance for yourself or others.

◎ Neighborly Help
Although Solvunn doesn't place much emphasis on extravagance, the evening's affair is an important one. They'd like to look their best. Members of the commune are all around the settlement to give you a hand to get ready. You can have someone style or braid your hair with ribbons, color it with natural dyes, or lend you some clothes and accessories if you don't have any. You can help them in return, as well. They're also happy to trade items with you.

Louis de Pointe du Lac will temporarily alter your clothes or appearance for the night using illusory magic.

Potluck

The potluck takes place on the second evening, held outdoors in one of the Secondary Settlement's spring meadows. Decorations are rustic and simple, consisting of fresh flowers and candles.

Mud-clay sculptures and masks are available from Nanaue, though they are not very sturdy. Nero will hand out colorful brochures.

There are no assigned seats. Tables and chairs are placed tightly together, along with natural seating created by tree stumps and boulders. You're encouraged to mingle and wander around. Though a sober hush lies over the gathering, the atmosphere is hopeful. The people of Solvunn look forward to better days.

◎ Food & Drink
Solvunn's potluck feast consists of dishes and drinks brought by everyone in the commune, including members of the Council. There are hearty stews and soups, freshly baked bread, butter churned that very morning, and a variety of Solvunn's famous goat cheeses. You're invited to contribute anything you like! Simply add your dish or dessert to the table. The centerpiece of the potluck is a pig roast. Mead and ale flow freely.

Wanda Maximoff will bring sečenica, propeć (both cheese and egg savory baked goods), and traditional fruit pies of plums, cherries, sugar, almonds, and vanilla sugar. Claire Fraser will provide a unique loose-leaf herbal tea blend.

◎ Entertainment
The people of Solvunn will sing, dance, and make music together. On occasion, there are pauses for someone to take the spotlight, but overall no one's center stage for long. Instruments are passed around, and guests are encouraged to join in. Due to recent events, many songs are subdued, speaking of honoring the gods. Later in the night, stories are exchanged around the campfires. One particular folktale is told by Rowan March about Spyndlveiss, a figure who captures wayward sheep on their way between the settlements. From these lost sheep, he makes sheepskin suits for hungry wolves to wear.

◎ Night's End
The potluck runs late into the night, though you can leave any time. Large tents are nearby for you to rest and spend the night. In the morning, you can join in on the communal breakfast before returning through the portal to the Primary Settlement.

Urianger Augurelt — FFXIV — Thorne

— OUTFIT SHOPPING.

( Urianger maintains his scholarly image well, however he can't deny a special fondness of gossip and shopping. He's eager to find out what manner of trinkets and tomes the city of Hayle has to offer: perhaps he could purchase a small, decorative something for his affectionately cluttered kitchen — which has been doubling as a workspace since his return from the wretched hole that was the pit. A souvenir for Himeka too, perhaps, and one for Thancred if something suitable catches his eye—

And some robes for the gala, he reminds himself, lest he have to attend in his more comfortable day wear.

He stands out in the boutique he finds that caters to formal occasionas. At 6'7" he is at least a head taller (often more) than the majority of the other patrons, and finding something that will fit his long frame proves ... difficult, to say the least. He ends up settling on a garment in black and another in a deep, eye-catching red; he's never worn red before — not like this, anyway — and his hesitance is plain on his features as he glances around for a second opinion. )

— ARCANA EXHIBIT.

( Urianger has heard tell of Hayle — has read about it in a handful of tomes borrowed from Castle Thorne's library — but to witness the crystalline city in person? The descriptions could never do it justice. In many ways the place reminds him of the Pixie Kingdom of Il Mheg: the crystal structures, the glint of rainbows as light catches the whimsical architecture ...

Ah, how he misses his small, winged friends. Perhaps he ought to devote more time to their faithful recreation within the depths of his Horizon — however those are thoughts for another time.

While he'd assumed the University would be his major location of interest he finds himself drawn in by pervasive sense of culture that permeates every ilm of the place, and so when he wakes on his first full day in the city he spends the morning simply taking in the sights. By the afternoon, however, he's managed to identify what it is that he'd like to see the most. It's hard to ignore the fact that there seems to be some kind of city-wide exhibition in full swing, mostly to do with Abracan tarot and rare decks that speak to the history of the art.

Perhaps it's unsurprising that said exhibits become Urianger's top priority. He can be found throught the city moving from exhibit to exhibit with the eye of a scholar in his element, however he'll occasionally pause for a cup of tea or spot of light refreshment to mull over which deck he'd like to purchase. )

— GALA: PERFORMANCE

( To contribute to an event in such a manner is a new experience for Urianger. The Elezen has always preferred to opt for a more "behind the scenes" role in such matters: he leaves the attention-grabbing showmanship to those better suited to such roles, however following the disaster in the pit he's of a mind to try and finds ways to enjoy what time he has here between bouts of study. As such, when the opportunity to offer something towards the evening arose, Urianger signed himself up to put on a demonstration for the Summoned of Abraxas.

He looks every inch the ageless sorcerer in his sweeping crimson gown, the starlight bouncing off the adornments in his hair, but in truth? There isn't a great deal of arcane complexity to the show he puts on. The magicks he pulls on are celestial, yes, drawn from the astral bodies of Abraxas's plane of existence and channelled through the Arcanum, but he knows all too well the dangers of letting divinination magic run rampant among those who aren't prepared for it. Instead his offering is more of a glittering light show cum seminar on the Heavens, however those who approach him in search of a horoscope?

Well. Urianger allows one of his newer abilities to reach out to such persons, sensing their emotions* and offering an appropriate word or two to help them with their evening. )

— GALA: DANCE

( It might come as a surprise to those who know him that Urianger is a very good dancer. Might, as the Elezen of Eorzea are known for their natural limber grace, however his proclivity towards sequestering himself away under a hood with a pile of books could very have successfully thrown his companions off the scent. There's also the fact that he's made a habit of turning down any kind of activity that might draw attention to himself—

But that was then, and this is now. Urianger has come close enough to death enough times of late that he's willing to try and experience things he might have otherwise missed — to let himself live a little, as a dear friend of his once hoped he might.

The deep red silk of his gown swirls around his body as the dance comes to an end, the tips of long, pointed ears flushed ever so slightly pink with pleasure as he offers a bow of the head to his partner. With their turn about the dancefloor finished they move on with a bow and a warm smile, leaving him to stand there awkwardly for a moment before falling back into his usual habits.

Urianger can't remember the last time he danced, nor the last time he truly enjoyed doing so, and while he drifts to the edge of the ballroom he can't help but find himself looking for another partner! )

[ The sudden shift from the grim atmosphere of the execution, which had been far more gruesome than most had bargained for, to these nights of festive merrymaking is jarring to say the least. Thancred might find it all to be in bad taste, but it's not as if he was going to pass up the chance to return to Hayle given how brief his first trip here had been. It's surreal to realize that was a year past now.

While the eye-catching architecture and the lavish outfits are not enough to distract him from all that's happened, the opportunity for those who spent an entire moon in captivity to forget all that for an evening isn't something he can entirely begrudge. He enjoys watching all of the Summoned perform, including his very own Urianger.

To see him looking so well, his facial hair grown back in, his outfit and accessories twinkling under crystal chandeliers, and his focus unmatched as he weaved divination magicks into a light show — there's something healing in it given what state he'd been in when Thancred and Himeka found him. Perhaps that experience put things into perspective for Urianger, given that he even agrees to dance with someone, his red garments twirling along with him across the ballroom floor.

Shortly after that dance, Urianger happens to catch his eye where Thancred's situated near the food table. He sets down his glass to clap, nothing too loud or boisterous because he isn't actually aiming to embarrass his friend in this instance. ]

You seem to be making the most of the evening. Am I allowed to say I'm proud?

[ His smile touches at one corner of his mouth as he picks up his glass again and extends it to Urianger, in case he wants a refreshing sip after that bit of physical exertion. Not that alcohol is probably the best option for that, but... details. ]

Istredd has not been himself since returning from the pit, much like everyone else who is still adapting to the situation. He's been skittish and hiding in the Horizon or in his room more often than not, only coming out to teach regularly. He is eating a little more than he was from the start, and sleeping slightly better thanks to having someone with him. But he has been withdrawn.

Until he finds out about Hayle and his excitement overtakes his anxieties about going somewhere new and full of people. He prefers to walk around with another Thorne Summoned who he might approach if out and about, but his enthusiasm is higher than usual. He admires the architecture, looking around with open appreciation and might chatter about how it is designed.

Istredd rarely notices shops but this time he does stop to look at the Arcana deck exhibit with genuine interest. When looking at them, you can spot him picking up a journal and making notes within it. He plans on using these designs later for a show. He seems into the magical items and will spend probably more time than he needs to at book shops. He doesn't buy anything while there, having sold all of his own supply, and looking a little longingly about it, but he is saving his money. What for? Well, fashion, for the first time in his entire life. Although he looks a bit perplexed and unsure while on the outside of a fashion boutique, clearly reluctant to go inside and yet hovering.

Istredd immediately goes to the university to take a good look at it. He knows not all of it is on display for newcomers, but that means he is going to soak in everything that he is allowed. He considered going here once upon a time, to learn more about this world, but couldn't accept the disconnect from the others. He can be seen cheerfully talking to any scholars he can find and seeming very at home in their libraries. He probably would stay there the entire time if he wasn't encouraged to look around the rest of the city.

While a part of Jesper would prefer to be doing this himself, and he would make it faster than he suspects Josselyn's about to get it, he is there to have the satisfaction of watching the ringleader die. He didn't get the satisfaction of the acolytes being executed, so this will have to do, even if he is still low-key contemplating if he could get away with giving all of them accidents.

Jesper has turned the color of his coat black for this event so he is in proper serious garb, and he has a flask in hand filled with liquor to make this entire thing go down better. He also has some popcorn given by Julie so it is clear there is no reverence happening as he watches the bizarre rites.

He doesn't look away from any of the execution, in fact he seems genuinely intrigued by the strange ritual. "Creepy, but also, deeply entertaining, isn't it?" he asks someone nearby, clearly having no problem watching a woman get eaten in front of them. Jesper does mutter damn when the birds come down but not in a negative way. "Usually people just get hung where I'm from." No such thing as a show like this!

Afterward, Jesper does take them up on grabbing a bone and painting the Wheel of Fortune arcana on it. He tosses the bone on the fire and nods his head. "Good riddance." At least she's gone, and that part is over. He doesn't linger but heads back toward the portals after that.

[ Before arriving, Nanaue has been 'gently' reminded several times by well meaning neighbors that the sheep are not for eating today, and that he must not interrupt the execution if he wishes to come along.

He does not want to be left out, so of course he wants to come along.

Nanaue does not understand why he is being singled out, and grumbles curses under his breath, but he manages to listen. The execution is strange. Why make her a sheep if not to eat her? Sometimes his new friends seem very wasteful, but they've also given him a house and food so he is trying not to complain.

Before or after the execution, if you met him last week and are here from another faction, he will wave to you. Someone has given him a large femur bone to gnaw on to keep him busy.

Otherwise, he is probably the least affected of anyone watching. It's only when the blood first spills that his eyes seem to darken, his snout lifted to sniff the air. ]

LAST RITES -- Before, OTA

[Alucard has no qualms about witnessing this death. He is well aware of the tension it creates against his past of course. His mother was publicly executed for being a woman pursuing true medicine, and having the advantage of his father's knowledge. There was a crowd to witness it. But that is where the parallels end, and it feels correct to ensure that this is the end of it all.

His face is grim. Set in stone, eyes ahead, dressed in a black coat that has been padded along the backbone and spine to make the outline of bones. The quilting technique is embellished by gold thread that further draws the eye to the raised padding, and the bone buttons that serve as fasteners. It has been some time since he wore this garment, but it too feels appropriate for the moment.

There is no joy in sitting down on the stone bench, eyes forward, taking everything in.

Anyone sitting beside him gets a polite nod, but no words. Not immediately, not with the air feeling so heavy.]

When Diana hears that Josselyn Creed will be executed, her heart sits heavy in her chest for days. The execution will be public, and she wrestles with herself about whether or not she'll attend. In the end, knowing that the Council will call upon their Old Gods to pronounce judgement is what finally solidifies her decision. She's had one run-in with Koth already, and is... interested in the rest of these gods.

She wears her armor to the execution; it is both a sign of respect for this rite and a precaution. The area where the judgement takes place is clearly meant for such things, and Diana doesn't look very surprised or shocked to see it. While it's different from any altars on Themyscira, she can recognize it for what it is. When she sees others writing on the stones around the altar, she heads to the stone engraved with the Empress sigil and does the same. These may not be her gods, but she isn't going to disrespect their rites.

The chanting begins, the sheep is slaughtered and its innards removed. Diana stands stone-faced, not seeming affected at all by the display; she's seen larger beasts sacrificed in the name of the gods, and the blood spilled seems fit for such an invocation. Only when the sheepskin begins to envelope Josselyn Creed do the corners of her lips turn downward, and her fingers tighten where they lay on her crossed arms. Screams fill the air. This is ancient magic, powerful and beyond her ken. Only when the mist appears and the sky darkens does she react further, one hand going to the hilt of her sword and the other stretching out to whomever might be beside her with a quick, "Stay behind me."

The vultures descend, and in a few moments, Josselyn Creed is no more. Diana's stance finally relaxes, though there is still a line of tension through her shoulders. When the invitation comes to paint one's Arcana on a bone, Diana hesitates only briefly before picking up what was probably part of a finger, and painting the sign of the Empress upon it. She may not agree with what was chosen for Josselyn Creed, but she accepts the judgement handed down by the gods. After she has tossed the bone into the fire, she does not linger, except for perhaps to share a word or two with another Summoned.

[ Eddie skips the execution entirely. He has no love or pity for Josselyn Creed and the events she chose to carry out, but neither his stomach nor his heart can handle watching another person die right in front of him, regardless of who are are.

It’s hard to say why he shows up on the grounds anyway, though, especially so early in the morning. Morbid curiosity, maybe, or just the desire to know for certain that she’s truly gone, even if he can’t bring himself to witness it himself. He settles himself a safe distance from the event, far enough to neither see nor hear anything specific, but close enough to catch attendees before they exit the portal. ]

I guess this might not be the best situation to ask how it went, huh?

It's Wylan's first time in Libertas, which means he will be exploring everything it has to offer. It's been a weird month, having just arrived, and this is a welcome change to relax a little and start to enjoy this new place he seems to be calling home now. He is drawn immediately to the Artist Alleys. He spends a good amount of time walking the winding streets and admiring the art on the walls of the buildings. Unfortunately, he can't read the poetry, and he feels disappointed in that. Considering how talented the artists are he is sure the poets are equally as talented. He will let out a bit of a frustrated sigh when he comes across yet more words and wouldn't it be nice if there was someone who could read it to him?

He will linger listening to the musicians, wishing not for the first time that he had his flute, he'd forgotten how much he had loved playing and the itch to join in with these musicians was real. Nothing they played was familiar (and why would it be), but he still found himself picking up on the melodies and humming along.

Wylan isn't one for gambling, a product of being raised by Jan Van Eck probably, but he isn't opposed to taverns, especially ones where he can hear music and poetry readings coming from. He will find himself at a table nursing a drink, since he doesn't have all that much money to waste on drinks, and is open to some friendly conversation, and if someone wants to buy him a drink then he wouldn't say no.

The Market Square is probably the second place he will spend most of his time. He needs something to wear for the feast, and he also wonders if he should spend some of the money he was given on some more clothes. He really doesn't have anything to wear except what he's scrapped together from Jesper and Kaz, which wasn't much and he would feel better if he had some clothes of his own. But he's also cautious about spending money as he still doesn't have a lot. Someone might have to convince him to splurge a little. He also lingers around the music stalls, spotting a beautiful flute that he can't help enquiring about, but he doesn't know if he wants to spend the money on it. He could probably use some convincing.

[These won't be particularly formal, despite the fact that the dancing itself will be. Caitlyn's not a dancer per se, but she's a well bred lady who happens to be have it as part of her skillset, even if it's the part she tends to ignore. So when she finds out that certain acquaintances can't dance? She ends up just offering her knowledge on the matter to anyone who might need it.

Her mother would be so proud. Gross.

Given what it's practice for, she's dressed up quite a bit for the occasion. Simply because dancing lessons wouldn't be very helpful without adding a few more practical things. Like how to not step on a Lady's dress if possible. Otherwise she'll be at the appointed venue, likely sitting down and enjoying a cup of tea while she waits.]

Jo takes more issues with the imprisoned acolytes than the execution appointed for Josselyn. She'd voted for all of them to go down in the ground together. After what happened to Dean, the state Cas and so many others were left in, she had no sympathy for any of them, and if she decided some year far from now she had regrets, it could just go on top of the fucking pile.

That said, it's still a bit much.

First, the thing takes forever, and then it's just a lot more like social event torture than it seems anything like an out-and-out execution. Not to mention it's all got all the sinister hallmarking of zealous witchcraft that would have hunters back home taking people out for.

The thing with the sheepskin? And then the vultures?
And that massive bird specter in the sky?

"What the utter fuck," Jo mutters.
They could have just put a bullet in her.

Sabine finds her way to execution, not because the loss of the life about to shed means anything to her outside of her involvement being directly tied to Jack’s being put into a pit that made people insane for no reason anyone seems certain on yet either. Jack’s well-being doesn’t need defending for another of the many chances at sane dissolution he’s managed to walk out from far more unscathed than most around him.

No, she’s here because of the whispers of The Old Gods; because she’d like to know what she’s dealing with in this place, and even if she doesn’t expect it to be written out in script or blood clearly, there will be more puzzle pieces to find there than within the tightly shut walls of Thorne Castle. It could behoove any plan for the future to know the powers at work across this planet.

The execution is a bit much. Sabine didn’t blanch or grow nauseous as many around her seemed to, wondering often as it all took place if this was all more the decided choice retribution of the people in the circle of stones or that of something beyond it, especially given the woman Josselyn’s screams that their gods had already abandoned them. Sabine's gaze averted from the carnage, a small frown pressed to her lips as she repeatedly returned to the figure outlined in the sky.

[ The morning of the execution, it takes Julie twice as long to get ready as it normally does. It's an interesting conundrum, from a fashion standpoint -- on the one hand, it is an execution, but on the other, it's the execution of someone that she definitely wants dead. She's not entirely sure what color dress that calls for.

Ultimately, when she steps through the portal from Cadens, it's in cream, with a matching birdcage veil over the top half of her face. It's also with a soft straw basket she's filled with popcorn, each serving in its own paper bag. These are distributed amongst anyone who asks for one, and she's clearly brought enough to share.

After all, what's a show without a snack?

Once the mages begin the ceremony, she watches intently, her nose wrinkling slightly as they sacrifice the sheep. Of course she knows animal sacrifice is a thing, but it's not something she's accustomed to seeing right in front of her.

(As she watches the blood flow, the grass die, she can feel the Singularity rousing in her mind. It's always there now. It didn't always used to be there. It wakes slowly, seems to be curious about what's happening. She's not sure if it's reacting to the magic or to her own twisted pleasure in seeing this woman die.)

Only at the first snap of bone in the silence does she flinch, instinctively grabbing the hand of someone next to herself. The writhing mass on the altar is suddenly cast in the dark by the wings of the bird god, and then there is only the sound of fluttering wings and the wet tearing of flesh.

The bones are offered to the Summoned. For a long moment, she seems to hesitate, like she's making a decision. (The Singularity nudges her consciousness, questions until she explains, That's who took them away from us.) Then, almost impulsively, she walks toward the altar and takes a bone. Pausing, she looks at those around her.

Her head lowers and she writes on the bone, not an arcana, but a rough symbol made of two parallel lines, both curving inward near the top to form a circle. (Do it with me, she tells the Singularity, and there is a reassuring weight in her head, encouraging.) She holds the bone in one hand, touches it over her heart, then drops it into the flame.

Before she leaves, she'll make sure anyone she knows who's still present is all right. This was a lot. ]

[He's not here for any kind of enjoyment. Who actually likes watching people be executed? No this is for justice. To make sure this person actually gets what they deserve. Maybe that's why they gave him that "arcana". He's not a hard person to spot, what with the height, the unusual appearance out of all the humans. And the big bandage still slapped to the side of his face.]

[If that's not a familiar feeling, he doesn't know what is. And now they don't have the Normandy's medical bay to fix the problem in a few hours.]

It's not going to backfire and end up with me on the altar, right?

[He asks when the Mages appear, ask for his name on the stone - thanks for that, Justice Arcana. Despite the relaxed drawl of the words, there's a tension there. Like he fully expects to get yanked back into some kind of magical trap. Again.]

[No, seriously. What the hell was that. Maybe he'd been right on the mark for "magical trap". Maybe infect her with mushroom spores too. Execute her by throwing her into the fungus dungeon. Something that seemed... hell, he doesn't know. He's no stranger to creative punishments, given his time in Omega.]

[But that was... a lot. A lot to take in, process. Giant bird-monsters were somehow easier to accept than an animal skin that ate people.]

And we're allowed to take one of her bones? [Not to keep, sure, but still, yikes.] I'm all for giving criminals what they deserve, but that seems ... pushing it.

[ The moment they're allowed to leave for Libertas, Hilda wastes no time. The city is not entirely unknown to her; her first month in Abraxas had been at the tail end of the clean up that had taken place after Thorne's attack and she had spent most of it visiting the various orphanages. This visit is not so unlike those times before — in fact, those are her first stops after stepping through the portal to unload the gifts and sweets she had promised the children there. After that however, she descends upon the rest of the newly resorted city with unbridled enthusiasm.

She can be found shopping, ensuring that she and her friends look and feel pampered for tomorrow evening's gala well in advance. If someone looks particularly lost or overwhelmed, Hilda is happy to offer encouragement or advice. On the fence about a piece you wouldn't normally wear or aren't sure about buying that other accessory? She's here to be your enabler because you should always treat yourself.

Her whirlwind day eventually leads her to the market square where Caitlyn is hosting dance lessons. She participates as a brief student but if she sees someone lingering or hesitating off to the side she'll glide over to them, a bright grin on her face. ]

Want to take a practice turn around the square? I promise I'm light on my feet.

[ Hilda spends the rest of the afternoon into the evening assisting with the decoration of the gardens. Her assisting ends up veering to direction at times - but the organizers don't seem to be fussed, in fact, they welcome her input. Maybe her eyelash batting was enough to convince you to help, or she strong armed you if you're familiar to her; either way, she's ensuring that no one has to work too late into the evening. She's seated atop a ladder, tying some paper stars to the trees branches when the string she's using slips from her grasp. Lost in thought, she isn't quite fast enough to grab the falling star and she lets out a gasp followed by quick warning to the person walking below.

It's paper so it shouldn't cause that much damage, but she calls out all the same. ]

For anyone who doesn't want to sit through the process, she has bags of pre-bagged tea ready to go.* But for those who do, she welcomes them to sit and begins with a small but warm smile and a question. ]

Wandering with a plate, she decides she doesn't need both molasses cookies she snagged, and offers it up to a small child she sees. Kneeling to their level, she smiles and hands it over, then nudges him back in the direction of his mother before standing with smile that lingers. ]

[It's not a question Michael has considered before, but he's still quick to make up his mind. Uncertainty doesn't suit him.

He steps up to her setup, hands at his sides. To his credit, he recognizes the variety of dried leaves and flowers laid out as a starting point for tea blends. Wanda's very into the stuff. He'd expected a medically-oriented display on Claire's part, but perhaps she'd done enough of that in Nocwich last month. This is supposed to be an occasion for Solvunn new and old to relax.]

Is this how you always mix your tea?

[Michael has his head tilted like a curious bird, looking genuinely puzzled for once.]

[Between Jayce’s work here and Alucard’s arts restoration efforts, Viktor is intimately familiar with Libertas, fully at ease in the market square, trading ideas with vendors and artisans and alternately expressing interest in the various commodities and showing off little inventions of his own.

He spends most of his time, however, at the Memorial Park, both because it’s a location he’s fond of and because he has a project of his own taking shape here. It might not be apparent what it is, exactly, until the evening of the banquet, but Viktor can be found there in the day leading up to it, assembling rings of metal, tweaking what seems to be a projection unit and a motor. He (and Jayce) can easily be found going over blueprints and directing workers to move and place heavier pieces that he can’t.

Ever the perfectionist, Viktor makes adjustments right up until the start of the event, bent over into the inner workings of the sphere, even in his formal wear. Probably he’s going to get grease on it. As soon as he hears someone approach, he’s quick to thrust his free hand out behind him.]

The wrench, there. Hand it to me.

ii. party time

[If you, perhaps, had the idea that Viktor is kind of Bad at Parties, you would be right. He cleans up acceptably at least, but a formal waistcoat and an attempt to tame his hair does nothing to mask his general air of discomfort. Still, he seems in higher spirits than usual, though he is a bit of a wallflower when not on Jayce’s arm. As him about the armillary sphere or any of his projects, however, and you’re in for an earful.

Though he’s clearly someone who probably has not gone to any kind of social engagement in many years before arriving to Abraxas, he does his very best to mingle, especially if you’re a new face. Maybe it's forward, but Viktor doesn't seem to find anything wrong with acknowledging the elephant in the room, even tangentially.]

It seems strange to celebrate, after all that.

[He otherwise takes advantage of any comfortable seating, and after nursing a few drinks is largely amenable to making conversation. You might even convince him to dance, provided you’re able to be patient with him (he is not, as one imagines, a very adept dancer).]

iii. assigned seating

[The seat next to you is empty. It stays empty, for probably longer than is polite. Maybe several artistic displays come and go before the chair’s ostensible owner makes an appearance, mid-someone’s performance, which is probably rude.]

Excuse me.

[Viktor is not particularly graceful about pulling out the chair and sinking into it, all bony elbows and disregard for his own lack of punctuality. This is, clearly, a guy who does not care at all about any incidents he might be causing. Possibly he was checking on the armillary again (there is a smudge of grease on his face).]

[But the appropriate wrench is still placed into his waiting hand all the same. Caitlyn, already fully ready for the party, is far too amused that she's found him here. Though, it's not like it took a detective of her skill to deduce he'd be here.]

I'd say mind your clothes, but it wouldn't be the first event you or Jayce has attended with something on them. [A pause, as Caitlyn reflects on the past fondly.] Or myself for that matter, come to think of it. Sometimes I wonder, if science is secretly contagious.

[As Jayce's self proclaimed assistant for many years, there might have been an event or three where she's attended parties with bits of Jayce's projects on her attire. Or just... not been able to attend at all on at least one of those occasions.]

[ he had been surprised that his request to perform at the banquet was accepted so readily. especially when he stated that he wished to perform the music in the elvish tongue. he steps onto the stage, unperturbed and quietly begins the elvish hymn "A Elbereth Gilthoniel" in sindarin. his voice washes over you, bringing forth a calm and sweetness and you might find your gaze turning to the stars, that seem to shine all the brighter under him.

when he finishes, the last note trailing into the air, a profound sadness seems to linger and then vanish. he bows before stepping down from the stage. ]

[With absolutely no desire to see an execution, it had been very easy to decide to ignore that invitation. The invitation to the gala had required more consideration, and it was only the day before the event that he finally chose to attend after all.

Still, the first day he mostly keeps to himself in his room at the Inn, showing up for the evening gathering to hear what the officials have to say and then soon retreating once again. However, the next morning is different; genuinely curious about the city and determinedly resolving not to waste the opportunity to learn a bit more about this world, he's decided he's going to spend the day out and about for the first time since he'd learned how to access the Horizon.

Although not usually particularly interested in shopping, the market is too incredible not to be drawn in by it. He has plans to buy some clothes for the gala but barely has the first idea of where to start on that, and so it's easy to get distracted by the smaller things like enchanted trinkets. He's playing with a small glass orb filled with a glowing mist that's currently dark blue but supposed to change colors depending on the holder's mood--Jayden's pretty sure it's just as accurate as an actual mood ring, but doesn't say so considering the merchant is watching--when he notices another Summoned, and he holds the orb out to them.]

WANDA'S PLOT COMMENT

[A. wanda approaches the altar area, finding the arch with 'the hanged man' arcana carved below it. at this point, she is past any skepticism when she is told she could put down an offering to appease the gods. nothing could really compare to a proper offering, but wanda kneels down nonetheless, pressing a hand to the carving for a moment of silence. then, she's pulling off one of the charms from her bracelet, letting it remain on the stone.

another time, she might approach someone else and offer some insight on what type of offering to give.]

Something small that you may have, like a snack. Anything that you'd be alright parting with, such as an earring or bracelet. Maybe some hair.

[yep... living in solvunn gives a person a skewed sense of what to leave behind.

B. the ritual which condemns josselyn to her fate is not all too dissimilar from what she has witnessed in her time in solvunn, in terms of killing animals to provide for food or to offer as sacrifice. thus, she does not flinch as the black sheep is pushed forward to the altar, anticipating what may become of it. there is neutrality in her expression, a tilt upwards of her chin, in recognition of solvunn's council members—that they would take responsibility for the wrongdoing of one of their own.

questions will arise from this ritual, how the chanting and the mist roll in, together with the figure of in the gloom, the way the sheep's skin coils unto josselyn's body.

what a cruel fate.

—but she should have thought better what her actions would result in. it is just punishment in her eyes. silence pervades afterwards. how could one deny the old god's existence and their lack of response towards solvunn with a display like this?

wanda nears the ritual fire when its lit, grabbing at one of the bones as they're instructed to do so should they desire it. she grazes over the surface of it with her thumb, imprints the sight of her arcana onto it. she no longer feels josselyn's presence with them; she is satisfied with the outcome. turning the bone over, the prints another arcana, 'the tower', to reminisce for the person who is not here with her to do so, waiting her turn to throw it into the fire.

C. she turns back now, ready to head back. this is now the time to speak a few words with her. otherwise, wanda will turn in time to see another summoned looking a little queasy. she reaches for them, stepping away from those filing to reach the portal, to ask with concern in her words,]

Market Square

[Nadine is more than happy to have something to take her mind off the execution. While she's not against putting deserving offenders to death, the whole thing had been so theatrical and ritualized. She's learned not to trust godlike beings that revel in a spectacle of death.

But it's over and done with, and she's flush with coins and eager to try and shake off all of the grimness of the last couple of months. There's been so much. Why not indulge in some needless retail therapy? All the New Magic products are interesting, if nothing else.

She can be found moving through the various stalls and tables and carpets of items, stopping here and there. For a change, she looks nothing like she does when on the job. Gone is her practical black linen and cotton, replaced with a fanciful day dress. Her hair is loose rather than pinned on top of her head or held in a severe bun.]


Garden Feast

[Usually these sorts of things just feel like a bit of silly fun. This time it feels like something more. Nadine's proud of what she's done throughout the entirety of the crisis, and she likes the acknowledgement. So many of them had done so much, poured all of their strength and energy into every part of the rescue effort...

This celebration actually feels deserved.

Dressed in a white and gold gown that's a bit more daring than she usually wears out, she's doing her best to just enjoy the night. The food is amazing, the entertainment is stunning, and the location means a great deal to her. She knows how much Jaskier had put into it, how much it means to him. It's fitting, to hold this here.

While not the most social of butterflies, Nadine will be trying to mingle with the other Summoned. She'll happily chat with whoever she ends up sitting next to for the feast, and will hover at the edges of the dancefloor and watch the entertainment with interested curiosity.

Except when Jaskier performs, when she'll be right there at the edge of the stage, grinning up at him like a schoolgirl.]

[Altaïr is not one who likes to stand out under any circumstances. Even when he is not seeing to business, so to speak, it is simply too ingrained him to want to avoid attention. Luckily, though the black clothing and red overcoat that Hilda had insisted on are more dramatic in appearance than he'd prefer, many of the Summoned are even more dramatic, and so he fits right in.

(Hiding in plain sight, indeed.)

He spots Nadine and eventually makes his way to her side as she eyes the revelries. He isn't one for this part, either, but...]

Pub Crawl (Open)

Abby’s exploration eventually found her at a tavern, still drunk on the freedom to actually go in and just buy herself a drink, she naturally made herself at home for a bit. She didn’t think this was what bars were like at home, not just the whole ‘weird ren faire aesthetic’ of it all. But she’d listened to a pair of guys debating the existence of the afterlife.

Drunk, yes, but surprisingly passionate and coherent. Which just didn’t seem to fit with what she knew of college bars. Not that- she’d been in any, but that feels like a huge omission if it wasn’t in any movies.

Abby had already found herself some clothes a little less- restrained, than that in Cadens. Finally with an outfit that showed off her stomach and arms the way she likes to in Spring. She’d picked a spot near the bar, but enough out of the way to not draw extra attention. But if anyone does actually stop to look at her she will smirk at them as she has zero idea how to make friends.

01. LIBERATAS TAVERN

( matt doesn't go to the execution. he doesn't need to see that and doesn't want to see it either. it happens and he puts it out of mind.

but, he does decide to go out to the festivities that occur afterward. it's the first time he's really been to libertas since the bombing and it feels like it's recovered well.

he walks around for a little while, cane sweeping back and forth across the walk, occasionally hitting up against people that get too close. when he hears the sounds of chatter within, smells the hops and grains, he decides to step in for a drink.

it's busy and some people stop when he comes in but he merely nods and finds a spot to sit that's a little out of the way. the drink that's put in front of him is huge and he raises an eyebrow at the waitress. she says nothing and walks away, leaving him with his huge drink. )

Someone in here trying to get me drunk?

( he doesn't expect an answer though and reaches for the mug, sipping it slowly. )

02 LIBERTAS MARKET SQUARE

( matt's not really in the market for anything but it feels like he's been enclosed and surrounded by walls for so long that being outside feels...like a treat. the sun beats down on his face and his hands are still bandaged thought less heavily than previously.

he takes the walk slow, cane in front of him, while he listens to the conversations the reach his ears. everyone seems to be in a pretty good mood, recovering and healing from what happened.

from near his shoulder, a shop vendor calls out to him, asking him if he wants to buy some handmade clothes. )

I think I'm goo —

( but the shopkeeper is very persuasive and that's how matt comes away with a sweater and a pair of pants that feel like they're made of straw. )

03 GARDEN FEAST ASSIGNED SEATING

( when they pull his name and guide him to his seat, matt thanks them and then settles in, folding his cane up. he waits a few moments and then turns to the person beside him to say: )

Kind of weird how they did this, huh? Feel like I'm in school again.

( good enough as an icebreaker, isn't it? he smiles at the people nearby and stays in his seat for a little while.

eventually, he does get up, wanting to stretch his legs and move his hands a bit. they're getting sore, tight and he knows he needs to be careful there while they heal.

so, he takes a few steps away from the biggest of the group and flexes and curls his fingers, working the myscles out before he sighs and heads to get a drink because of the pain that he's just worked up in himself. )

That's exactly what it feels like.

[Which is a little funny to think about--why did they do it this way?--but ultimately hardly matters, since Jayden knows so few people anyway. He recognizes several from the pit, Matt included, but for those he hadn't spoken to during that ordeal this is a much nicer way to actually meet them.]

They shoulda' just gone all in and given us really cliche questions to ask each other.

[Marianne's attendance at the execution is partly in support her friends who were among Josselyn's victims, and partly because she feels like she should be there.

She knows nothing about the gods of this land, but as a deeply religious person she wishes to appease them all the same. The reverence with which she approaches the task isn't at all incongruous with her own faith; the way that she sees it, the gods of this world look after it much like her own Goddess looks after Fódlan. To show deference is the least she can do.

She stops at the arch with The Hanged Man Arcana, bowing her head in prayer for lack of anything in her possession worth offering. From there, she takes her place toward the back of the crowd, where she watches the ritual execution with slowly growing horror. Of all the possibilities she had imagined, this gruesome display certainly wasn't among them. The Goddess and the Church of Seiros are not always kind and merciful, but this... this is something else entirely.

Marianne notes to herself that the gods of this world are not to be crossed.

After the execution ends, she approaches the pile of sheepskin and bones that once was Josselyn Creed and bows her head slightly.]

It's not my place to accept this punishment or not. And... I'm not sure I have the stomach for it anyway. I'm sorry.

[Yes, she's talking to the gods via the mess they've left behind.

From there, Marianne makes her way back to the portal.]

Execution OTA

Lingering around the edge of the ring of stones, Lenore pauses before each arcana archway, gazing up at the arch and then down at the sigil as though they might offer their secrets, though none of the ones she's already passed have yet offered up anything. At the archway marked with the sign of The Lovers, she leaves the tiniest of offerings: single early-spring wildflower, plucked from just a few yards away.

Quiet and reclusive, she walks with shoulders hunched, staying back near the edge of the crowd as things are prepared. She's been told that the condemned will be subject to the justice of the old gods, and it's that which brings Lenore here, most of all. Knowledge is power and specifically a form of power that Lenore values most: the ability to build safety for herself and those she cares about. So she needs to know about these old gods.

Once the ritual proper starts, she glues herself to the side of Adrian Tepes, hovering beside him for safety. Anyone who wishes to speak to her during the ritual and shortly after it may have to go through him first.

Lenore watches the ritual fire, but she does not touch the bones or paint her Arcana as suggested. She keeps her distance, hands clasped nervously over her heart. Before the fire has finished burning down, she whirls suddenly and heads in the direction of the portal.
