Potluck - A.

[The girls face little success on their own, but they do make for a perfect distraction while Michael steps up behind her.]

It's tradition, Wanda. Are you going to disappoint the children?

[He's not waiting for an answer, placing the flower crown on her head before he's even finished asking his question. Though he's conspired against her, he has at least been kind enough to spare Wanda the gaudy bouquets some of the other guests are wearing: on her head rests an understated creation, a light band woven from several shades of fragrant lilac and a few small fern fronds for interest.

(On the other hand, he has endowed the foliage with extended vitality. It'll be well into the next week before the blooms begin to wilt.)

There's giggling and cheering, and then the girls scatter off to find a new target.

They don't bother with Michael, of course. He's already wearing one, a simple circle of common white daisies. Her revenge will have to take another form.]
