Jesper's heart softens hearing Kell admit that he hasn't felt safe to leave his room after dark. That her death will help him with that. He reaches out with his hand and runs it along Kell's back gently, comfortingly. Jesper is always kind to his lovers, he cares about them for more than sex, Kell included.
"Their gods, yes. I don't know what they are in truth, some kind of supernaturally powerful creatures. Might as well be called gods."
Jesper doesn't know what real gods would be anyway. Surely they're all basically that as a definition. He has no religion or anything remotely like it, which makes it very easy to shrug and accept everything about this at face value. As if he would be foolish to doubt what they just saw in front of their eyes.
