[ Steve lets out a sound that's somewhere between a scoff and a laugh at Claire's curse. Yeah, he knows who both Roosevelt and Jesus are, so it sounds like when it comes to the broader strokes of history, their worlds are the same. ]
Yeah, I know who both of them are, [ he confirms with a disbelieving shake of his head. ] Lived through the Great Depression, studied the Bible as a kid...
[ Simpler times.
And then she touches on what he was just wondering about. A standing stone? ] You mean like... Stonehenge? [ It seems like if anyone from his world might know more about this, it would be Strange, whose job it is to keep track of this kind of thing.
Steve gives her a chance to answer, taking a moment to focus on yanking the loose stone free from where it had been embedded in the path. He makes it look a lot easier than it actually is, but what matters is that the small danger has been addressed, the dislodged rock now sitting in the palm of his hand. He presses back to his feet. ]
[ Claire has no great fondness for the bible, but that's a completely different conversation. ]
...Something like that. Although it's so visited, if people disappeared the way I did with regularity, it would've been known. Unless there's some sort of conspiracy to keep it quiet.
[ Also a totally separate conversation. ]
I disappeared in 1945 for three years. Because I'm a terrible liar, I was immediately accused of being a spy by two different armies, but the Scots took me in. They kept me safe—some of them with great protest—and I eventually got married.

That's the most amazing feat of strength I've ever seen in my life. Up until now I honestly did think my husband was physically the strongest man I'd ever meet, he's part Viking, a fighter. He was hard to beat, but you've gone and done it. I hope I get to tell him at some point.
[ She laughs, because it would only be in loving jest, nothing serious. ]
[ So it's a tourist site on Claire's Earth, too. Then something special must have been triggered when she touched it, the conditions being just right. It sounds like she still doesn't have the answer to that question, but on the other hand, she's also managed to travel back and forth, so she must understand something about the process. ]
... Huh. Given that you started off with accusations of being a spy, I guess coming out of it married to someone is probably one of the better ways that could have gone.
[ When Claire comments on what he just did, dropping some more information about her husband in the process, Steve just sends her a sheepish smile as he tosses the rock up into the air and catches it again. Sometimes he forgets how his super strength might come across to someone who hasn't lived in a world like his, where superheroes are becoming more and more common. ]
Well, I did get some help from science to end up like this, so I can't take all the credit. And I hope you get to tell him too.
[ But no one has yet found a way to control when and how they return home. It happens unexpectedly, and with their memories of their time here wiped away, more often than not. It still doesn't sit well with Steve. ]
