Those with day-to-day routines and regular jobs to go back to might have found stepping back into them more comforting. Ciri is trying to balance the desire to fuck off into the wilderness alone to lick her wounds, the way she's long been used to-- and the growing realization, spurred by her time here increasingly surrounded by people who give a shit about her, that it may not be the best option.
