"Not particularly," Thancred responds with a shrug of his shoulders as he glances up and down the path, bathed in the color of fading twilight. "Much like you, I simply wanted a change of scenery. I was on my way to a tavern, in fact."

He doesn't need to share that he isn't going there simply for a drink, but it's entirely possible that listening in on the gossip of the night also won't turn up anything particularly interesting. Either way, he doesn't think the night will be a waste.

Following a brief pause, Thancred inclines his head to Lestat. "You're welcome to join me, if you'd like." He's still quite uncertain about him, but that's all the more reason to learn more.
