"It does happen sometimes unfortunately. The Singularity tends to give us new skills whether we like it or not. Maybe your talent is a Singularity gift too."
He's only partially joking. Kell likes to think the reason for some of his new abilities is in fact the Abraxan origin of magic. He fiercely detests the other option. Still, as much as he hates to admit, at least one of his makes more sense to be a gift from the gods.
So we're doing titles now? Alright.
"Aven Kell Maresh, and the pleasure is mine" he replies with light bow of his own. Kell rarely ever introduces himself with his last name, even less often with title. He's no more blessed (or cursed) here than anyone else from among the Summonned, so the title is pretty much meaningless anyway.
"It would be hard to compete with with a continent-wide treason plot. I'd argue though that maybe it's better not to."
Given how the whole affair ended for the people behind it? Yes, that kind of impression is not exatly one you should make with your entrance.
"And how are you finding Thorne, sir?"
fingers crossed!!
"I would agree," John replies, with a crooked smile. "I have been told that such excitement is a rarity even here, but then I have little to gauge these things off of."
How is he finding Thorne? It is a loaded question and one he takes a moment to consider before he replies.
"It has been a difficult adjustment, I think," he says, with a self-conscious shrug. "Magic... Is a thing of fairy-tale, where I am from. To find myself in such a place, amongst people who have lived with it their whole lives. I am not used to being so out of my depths. I scarcely know where to begin."
no subject
That's his way of confirming he was one those taken. They might have been healed, but the horrors of the experience still linger, and Kell doesn't like to be reminded of them. So of course, he'd make light of it.
With a flick of his wrist he calls a small gust of air to lift the shop's menu from under the counter, directs to gently fall on top.
"I know a place where it was nigh non-existent, but my home is full of it. Though it's very different from the one here. If I were to start from nothing, I'd have picked a type that helps with what I'm already interested in."
