A Mini-Mingle (open)
WHO: anyone in Solvunn!
WHAT: (A Mini) Mingle Meet & Greet for new and old Solvunn Summoned!
WHEN: early through mid-august
WHERE: by the black eye lakes!!
[ ooc: This is an open log meant for all new and old Solvunn Summoned, so feel free to jump in and make your own top-levels! ]
i. Black Betty

Just outside of the Primary Settlement and in the direction of the smaller of the Black Eye Lakes (known affectionately as 'Grey Betty'), you'll find a cluster of tables and blankets and a couple of tents set up for a humble but intentional little get-together. Drinks have been provided thanks to local establishment, The Drunken Lamb and Wanda's home-brewed plum brandy, for those who need a little bit of liquid courage to pull you into the mingle, and there are foods laid out for snacking: trays of crackers, a large pot of Himeka's stew of the season (using all local and in-season veg), a communal bone broth, and a few wheels of assorted cheeses in varying levels of hardness and umami profiles that Nero has generously brought over (from where? who knows? it just exists) to share.
Don't mind the beautiful ceramic bowl on one of the tables filled with a random assortment of ... well, bones. They're a ... ah, specialty snack left out for a certain beloved individual (or individuals), but you're always welcome to investigate if you wish! And maybe try to figure out a way to ask about it ...
Anyway, the residents of the Treehouse by Grey Betty are around to chat with if you have any questions, but of course the least helpful of the bunch will be the grumpy little 3'1" raccoonoid standing over by the little games station he's set up with what looks like a crude (but effective) dart-and-or-dagger-throwing area, a ring toss, and a pin-the-tail-on-a-goat (not a real goat!) board. He'll delight in you losing any one of these games because it means he wins a bet, though whom he's placed said bet with remains to be seen.
ii. White Betty
Perhaps you've had your share of meeting-and-greeting by the calm, tranquil lakeside, and you're done sitting around and lounging on a blanket chatting with your fellow Solvunn Summoned. Maybe you're looking for something a little more exciting to do; maybe you're seeking a bit of a workout. If you continue into one of the wooded areas towards the rocky mountain range, you'll eventually come upon the White Betty (not to be confused with Betty White).
Continue climbing up the rocky ledges and formidable cliffside, and you'll eventually reach the top of White Betty, the beautiful waterfall that feeds into Black Betty at the bottom. The waters are deep enough to encourage cliff-jumping for the thrill-seekers, or if you're just looking to enjoy a beautiful view of the lakeside and your new home, there are plenty of lookout points. The skies here are open and seemingly never ending, and they're very, very blue.
Bring along one of the blankets from the party area, and maybe a couple of sample cheeses — the sunsets are said to be very beautiful. Of course be mindful of delving deeper into the trees as the day turns to night, as strange sounds have often been heard and there may or may not be some truth to the stories of dangerous creatures that dwell within the thick foliage, including a house that walks around on spindly little chicken legs ...

[He doesn't really think so, but he's not going to insist otherwise right to her face.]
Maybe I'm just projecting. I was pretty pissed off myself when I got here.
no subject
Are you still feeling that way?
[it sure is the five stages of grief, being summoned, except they tend to skip the sad stage and slam straight into anger and bargaining.]
no subject
[Not really. Well, he did calm down.]
Wouldn't say I'm happy to be here, but it is what it is. Sitting around being cranky for days isn't going to make a difference.
no subject
[always something that the summoned are expected to help with, not because it's an obligation, but because it's what the "old gods" chose these specific people for: to grace the populace with their generosity and time.
well, at least he's calmed down.]
—if the farm life becomes too much, you can always come down to the treehouse. We try to keep amenities that we're more used to. I keep those sugary cereals in the pantry for some of the teenagers here. [she motions at the treehouse. he's free to ask how.] We don't mind the visits.
no subject
What, you can get Lucky Charms here? Doesn't seem like it fits the vibe.
[Then again, he's only been here a little while. Maybe Abraxas has unseen corporate depths.]
How big is this treehouse? They tend to run small.
no subject
[if that’s what he would prefer to have, that is. wanda tilts her head, considering his question.]
—magically, anyway. [best he doesn’t go asking the locals about the cereal options.] And it’s pretty big. We have a few floors. We got some help in getting it built.
no subject
[Being created by magic might be the first time they've actually earned that description.]
Damn. That is pretty impressive. I'll have to come check it out at least — I know I want to explore as much of this whole place as I can.
["This place" meaning — Solvunn? Abraxas as a whole? Et cetera? The answer is pretty much "yes" regardless.]
no subject
[wanda has no idea about all these american things; she just grabs whatever memories and understandings people have of their cereals and makes them a reality based on that. it’s amusing, nevertheless.
with a bemused smile, she turns her gaze to the man.]
Are you an explorer, then?
[because, in that case…]
You should know that we can’t actually leave the factions we’ve been summoned into so easily. There is plenty in Solvunn to explore, I’m sure. Just make sure you don’t do any unnecessarily dangerous trips.
[traveling alone with all the beasts and general situation with the old gods might not be the best idea, after all.]
feel free to drop this is so old sob
[Will that impress her? Probably not. There's still a hint of pride in his voice.]
Yeah, yeah, I know. But coming to a completely new world — it's hard to complain about only getting to explore part of it.
[He will, though, later on. Loudly. At length.]
