[ truth be told, sam was in here even before inej was up to visitors - bringing in water, bringing in clean bandages and sheets, helping jesper and whoever else with the more mundane parts of the healing process. it's all he can really do to help mitigate his own worry, some visits quite literally only to make sure she's breathing.

but he does hear, pretty immediately, when she's up and conscious and ready for visitors - and honestly, this probably isn't the first time he's popped his head in while she's been up. this time, though, he comes bringing food - soup, fresh from mag's big ole pot downstairs. hopefully she's okay with spicy. ]

You're lookin' better today. How you feel? [ sam sets the bowl down on her bedside table, busying himself for a moment or so with the usual routine - checking her water, cleaning up anything that's started to build at her bedside, etc. ]

[This isn’t the first time Sam has been to check on her— she remembers the busywork sounds of him with Jesper at one point— but it is one of the times she’s been able to sit up almost properly.]

Hey- yeah, definitely better. [She nods a bit and smiles.] Still sore, but it’s not as bad as it was.

[ he smiles at her as she sits up, and even though it's an improvement, he's still...not happy with the shape she's in. he makes a note to have nadine check in on her, just to make sure everything's going at the speed it should. ]

Good. I'll take sore. Feel up to eating?

Always ready for soup from Mag's kitchen. [She grins and takes the bowl offered to her. There's just something so comforting about soup. Warm and cozy feeling.]

Have I missed anything important?

[ he shrugs, casual but with a layered sort of exhaustion to it. ]

Dunno if I'd say 'missed'. You were taken out by one of those creatures that came through the rifts, yeah? Cause it's basically been.... that. And all the cleanup after.

[She studies him, even as she takes the bowl of soup and begins to eat. She's debating if he's trying to keep it somewhat vague just to try to make her fret less about being stuck laid up like she has been.

She nods at the question and finishes her bite before she speaks again.]
