"Earth grown ups are like that, even the cool ones." And this is why Abby likes having friends her age where she can get them.

"I didn't really help with Julie's bullshit plan, but I didn't faint and scare the fuck out of everyone." Is she more mad at the double standard, or the fact Julie did something stupid. Who can say. "I don't regret what I did and if they want me to stop they'll need to find a good way to lock me up."

"An unfortunate side-effect of growing up?" she suggests, wrinkling her nose a bit at the thought. She hopes she remains as reasonable a person as she is now when she's older. Maybe it's that what one considers reasonable changes as they age? Hmm. Food for thought.

"If they lock you up, just let me know... Kaz is great with locks, and Jesper can control materials..." she smirks. They'll break her out, it'd be fun, a herald to times with the Dregs in Ketterdam.

"Fun thought when I get to turn seventeen this month." Abby's not thrilled about her birthday, all things considered. Jesper would take care of her after. So at least she had that going for her.

She smiles, the offer of jailbreak in that perfect place of 'joke' but also she figures if she needs it, they'll do it. "Hey, any chance you can get me in the door doing courier work. Washing dishes here is great and all, but I wanna explore the city and get money for it. Also-"

Abby extricates herself from cuddling to haphazardly roll herself toward the nearest wall, sitting down on the surface like that's totally normal, "Pretty fuckin' cool right? Has to be a little useful exploring the city?"

"Are we doing a party for your birthday, then?" she smiles. Hers had been a small affair, but that was more her pace anyway.

She considers the question for a moment. "Maybe, yeah. I can try and put in a good word for you." Inej isn't sure how much pull she really has, but it's worth a shot. Anything to help a friend.

Inej tips her head as Abby shifts to sit on the wall, an amused look on her face. "Absolutely useful. You should go rooftopping with me sometime," she does still keep to old habits, so exploring the city from the heights of buildings was a regular activity for her. Easier now that she knows the layout of the city after so long here.

"Maybe, I dunno," There's a chill to Abby's body language that says she doesn't really want to talk about it.

Abby figured it could help to just have someone who works there vouch for her, and she can try to not fuck up this job interview like last one.

Abby gets herself close enough to the bed she can just- gracefully faceplant into it for a moment before rolling over and just going with the change in positions. Abby's used to looking at her friends from weird angles on a bed. "There are some kinks to work out about this new thing I do. Turns out human brains don't like it when the world is at a wrong angle. It gets all seasick about it. So I've been keeping my practice to the Horizon."

Which might also have to do with Abby not trying to sit up or move back to being curled up with Inej just yet. "That and if I go splat there I don't die. It just fucking hurts."

Inej is pretty sure there's... something there, but Abby is suddenly so very still that she isn't sure pressing is the right move, here. So instead, she lets it go.

"You'll adjust eventually, probably," she says with the mild authority of someone who might know what she's talking about. "Did I ever tell you about the circus?" If Abby has ever wandered by Inej's domain in the Horizon, there was no mistaking the circus tent that resided in it, but it doesn't mean the explanation for it has happened yet.

Idly, she reaches for Abby's hand, twisting their fingers together if she offers it. Little platonic touches are something she's learning to like again, and Abby is probably one of the best people for just such a thing.

"Like the whole 'be ignored' thing it'll probably grow easier and less tilt-a-whirl-y with practice." That seemed to be the name of the game. Each of these new toys was like growing a brand new limb. It's neat, it sorta knows what it does. But you haven't practiced with it so you need to.

...Can this place make you grow limbs, that'd be fucking weird.

"Circus? No. If this involves Jesper and a Clown I might need snacks." She'll let the image play out, she isn't sure Jesper is a clown, or flirting with one, as both seem equally possible. They don't mesh with the 'life of crime' backstory but nothing about Jesper meshes with that exactly right for Abby, so it's fine.

Abby gets herself into a 'not on her face' laying down and gives Inej's fingers a gentle squeeze. Abby, of M.A.N.G. was always the most tactile, the most ready to jump into someone's arms, sit in their lap. So yes, small platonic touches are her language and she's glad to be speaking it again.
