B. Castle Thorne!
"Why does what keep happening?" As he approached, he saw her pick up a stone and drop it. It wasn't hard to read her anxiety, even if he didn't have magic, he could have figured it out. He started to reach out, to help her calm her own anxiety and then stopped. No, he most definitely did not want to be on the receiving end if she took offense to that. One bout with Lucifer had taught him that. So. He'd wait for an invitation.

"I- sometimes hear things." Which is a weird statement from a Deaf girl. "And feel things. I picked up that stone, and there was something there." Her heart stopped racing after a few moments away from the stone. But it still hung in the back of her mind that she was feeling that way.

Like this? Show me. He could feel her anxiety too, but....one thing at a time. If she reacted poorly he could always calm her down.

So she picks up the stone again. The words play out, just as they did before. She’ll say yes, she’ll have to say yes. Yes. But what if she doesn’t? No, no, it’s been four months she’ll say yes. She didn't move, but she watched someone's hand roll the stone between his fingers and stack it on top of the other stones. The garden wasn't very different from now, just lacking the damage from the visiting monsters. The racing heart and stomach in knots were back. Not her stomach, not her heart. But whoever owned this fragment.
She recognized it. It was the feeling you get before asking someone out, for the first time.
He looked up at whoever was coming, and the nerves melted away. Which brought an end to whatever she was remembering. What, this time it was Bay's voice, not that voice she didn't know, was that?

Interesting.
Although Kelson was sure Bay probably wanted a bit more than just 'interesting'. With his free hand, he reached to pick up the stone himself. With a small probe he got. Nothing. Just... a rock.
I'm not getting anything myself. But all that means is that the impression left wasn't especially psychically strong. My guess is you're picking up fragments of impressions left by others. Does it happen with everything or just, randomly?
Kelson would get those impressions, by say, picking up something of someone who was murdered. Not, a first date.
Wait, better ask. You don't normally have magic, do you?

This is new. Some items just seem... Different. She hadn't put a name to the feeling, but there was a trepidation attached to the stone before she touched it. She didn't know why it was there, but she guessed whatever 'this' is, that's her body telling her about it.
She just ignored it because it's a stone, why would it be dubious to touch.
My world doesn't have magic. I guess it has a little, but I only ran into it once. And none of the spells I'm working on here would do this. The only magic she ran into in her life before here was waking up Deaf. Which she could only classify as 'magic' or 'impossible.' But as it happened, magic was the only proper descriptor right now, without further information she can't get to until she goes home.

It's not unheard of back home. Usually individuals who work closely with other magic users can sometimes develop a sense of it themselves. Certain skills get activated. Magic can be...contagious?
My guess is that what is what happened to you. There certainly isn't a lack of magic around here, from practitioners to magical creatures. You may develop more than one skill.
He focused in again on that feeling she was getting. It wasn't quite like anything he'd experienced himself, but that didn't mean he couldn't guess. At the very least he had a bit more knowledge of magic than she did, even if it may or may not be applicable.
You're probably picking up on the psychic residue even before you're touching it. Does it bother you?
Kelson relaxed by stones, trying to look like they were just enjoying the sunlight, watching the flowers, and the birds. Nothing to see here.

She bunched a bit of her skirt around her hand and touched the stone again. Thankfully nothing. So she'll also just need to have gloves for the future. While she gains more control over this.
It's... the next few thoughts aren't even remotely English, raw frustration that slips her back into ASL-brain for a moment. She takes a breath, I can't really find the right metaphor that will make sense to you. But I can feel... life? That's what it is, a tiny little run of power around it. Like it wants me to know it matters?
She lets her eyes linger on the stone a few moments longer before going back to looking at the gardens. Thorne was beautiful, even after what happened. It was impressive, what they did here. Even if she knows how it was done would probably churn her stomach from what she knows of the Queen.

And then Bay switches to ....not english. He waits, trying to sort out the images and then she changes back. It's alright. Take your time.
She explained. She could feel life? He took a moment to think about it. He wouldn't have put it that way, but it wasn't his magic. He'd take her at her own experience. Do you know what triggers it?
no subject
I know that it's inanimate objects, that I need them to touch my skin, and I think objects a lot of people touch don't do this. Which is to say no, she doesn't know what triggers it. But everything she's touched hasn't been... common. It doesn't happen in the kitchen when she handles everyday spices and tools. And the bookstores and libraries only happen with books rarely touched.

He wasn't staying here. He had absolutely no intention of getting comfortable. He had a kingdom to get back too, and it would only wait so long. My guess would be a strong emotional connection or moment on behalf of whatever individual left the ...thread. But it could also easily be something on your end. Sorry, I know I'm not much help.
no subject
Probably something left behind, Not all of them had felt emotionally impactful. They had something to them, a thought or feeling hanging to the object like a fingerprint. Even if she was drawing them out, she wasn't making them herself. I at least have someone else who can see I'm not crazy. I'll be happy with that.
no subject
You are very much not crazy. I assure you. Kelson broke the bond, moving his hand slightly away from hers, aware of just how odd it must look to anyone possibly watching that they were just, staring at eachother silently.
