HELLO ALL AND WELCOME TO SAM'S CAPTAIN AMERICA COOKOUT!!!!
Over the last week or so, Sam has been going out of his way to contact as many people as he knows to invite them to a cookout at his place in the Horizon. He knows that after the jailbreak, a lot of people were separated, and this was his first thought on how to bring people together. The purpose behind it is simply because Sam thinks that the one thing all of them have in common, opinion on the Singularity and their situations aside, is that they were all brought here and can actually access the Horizon. He sees merit and use in coming together when they can, especially in ways that don't involve the politics of the land they're now living in. So, what better way to do that than around food?
The long and short of it is - this is a peace meal. Leave your issues at the door. Sam has very few rules and there is very little he will give in terms of what this cookout will entail, but three things he will make very clear:
All throughout the party, too, there will be a new friend. Red, as Sam fondly calls him, is a blood-red hunting hawk with silver in between the feathers. He can be found circling around Sam quite often, or perched on his shoulders, but also if you are out and about you can often see him checking up on anyone and everyone. He's a very curious little bird, and also pretty sassy, if you want to interact with him.
If you haven't, or have, been to Sam's domain before, feel free to take a look around. Anywhere is open (save for one locked bedroom) so everyone has open access, but most of the cookout itself will be located in the front yard.

1.) There will be no fighting at his home. You want to duke it out? Take it somewhere else. There will not be warnings or second chances. Don't be an ass.The cookout itself is set up out front, with picnic tables and chairs and fire pits and lights abound. There are tables set up near grilles if anyone wants to do any actual cooking outside, and a table (probably multiple) set up with sides and napkins and utensils. There are a variety of different places to go and sit and hang out while you're eating. Anything and everything you can want is available - food, drinks, yard games, music playing from out in the trees that will remain consistent unless someone tries to find the speakers and hijack the playlists, etc. If you can't find something outside, you're more than welcome to check the house.
2.) There is no meeting or serious reason for this cookout. Literally, he just wants people to come together who may no longer be able to see each other due to the travel constraints. It's meant to be fun. Come have fun. (he knows y'all know what that is, even when some of you pretend you don't). Bring food if you want to! There is also a kitchen (if you know what that is) and places to crash. Hope you like seafood!
3.) Anyone who can come into the Horizon is welcome. He'd love it if everyone came, so spread the word.

This party will last basically as long as people want it to, but the idea is for it to be an afternoon into the evening. [ His tone is a little too casual for just having a blade on his throat. He heard that they couldn't die in the Horizon, but he wonders if it would hurt. Would he reform after he dies? Nero can't say that he's sure, but does take a step back and rub his neck. ]

[ Despite the light tone, it sounds about as sincere as it can sound from a person like Nero. ]

[There's exasperation there, but it's largely smothered by exaggerated condescension, punctuated by the tell-tale crack and hiss of the can as she pulls back the tab.

[But she does unclench a little, when Nero says he's in Solvunn. There's something to appreciate that he can only bother her in Horizon: she doesn't have to watch her back in person. So now, she's curious.]

[ His thoughts immediately go to Link and Relena. The two seventeen-year-olds literally have more responsibility and expectations placed on them than what seems normal. Abnormal even to Nero's standards of normal. ]
Well, illusions are my specialty.
[ He'd like to say elves themselves are good with it, but he knows quite a few that fall for even the most amateurish of glamor. ]
It's country-living, darling! [ His arms are thrown out to his sides. ] Community, live, laugh, love, pray nonsense! There's a marketplace that people shift their goods through. Free Cities and Thorne take advantage of the neutrality of Solvunn to move around imports and exports.
There's also a hot springs that I heard about, but I haven't been able to visit quite yet. [ Too busy traveling between the second and tertiary settlements; too busy hunting down pirates to kill and "donate" their stolen goods to the second settlement's market. Busy, busy, busy -- and yet feeling like he's doing jackshit. ]
It's running around but feeling like you haven't accomplished anything. [ 'Cause really, what is anything that he did do? What impact did it really have? He's used to razing motherfucking towns and countries to the ground! He can easily see what he changed in the world that way, but what he's doing now? It's fucking pissing around 'cause he's waiting to figure out if Solvunn's got the balls to destroy the world for their ideals! ]

She just sips on her beer as Nero gushes about the country he very clearly doesn't enjoy, and does her best not to grimace at how bad her drink tastes.]
Ehh, it's fine. Mostly it's like, upstanding city bullshit, people are trying to make steam powered bullshit happen, they don't really use magic so it's really easy to do stupid shit to them before they can catch you.
[Like pick their pockets. Often badly.]
The markets are fun, there's all sorts of cool shit, but like. Overall people don't really give a shit what you do as long as you don't cause a fuss doing it.

[ He wonders if it might be that they just aren't as inclined to magic as say Thorne would be. Could it be all those that were weak magic users migrated to the Free Cities? Or something like the leyline bullshit that was talked about during that information meeting?
Oh shit! Did he remember something from the information meeting that is relevant? He stares ahead -- and then abruptly shrugs.

That's about how people are, right? You can get away with murder so long as you don't upset the general populous way of life. [ He points at her. ] Kill the right person or people and no one will care at all.
Goes to show you that all life is ultimately worthless. Only thing that makes it worth anything is acquiring enough power or status to have it be a burden to others if you happen to die. [ Teaching some good life lessons here. ]

Having status or whatever doesn't actually protect people. Kings and politicians and shit still get killed, people have contingency plans for when that shit happens. The only person it really ends up affecting on a functional level is their immediate family, and sometimes not even then.
[She takes another sip and puts her beer down.] But that doesn't make life worthless. Just because you can kill someone and not give a shit about it, doesn't mean everyone else is as fucking hollow.

He'd say that as someone who also appears like the fae that she should understand how important it is to word things properly.
