But she does kind of get it, the way they do magic here is strange. Since none of them really have the same gods, she's not sure she knows how new people would go about learning High Magic. Does it matter if they're not the faithful here? Julia has her own plans to connect with at least one god here, but she doesn't know how to use High Magic. However, it hasn't occurred to her that she can, actually, teach magic here to other people.
Her face brightens as she realizes and she nods, giving him a thumbs up again. At this point she has the limit of her ability to sign but he hasn't seemed to mind people switching to text instead of failing to do it right. She taps her forehead to indicate that's what she's doing.
Yes! In my world, anyone with magical aptitude can learn spells. You have magic from this world so I think I can teach you some. It's not what they're doing but I don't see any reason you couldn't. It requires a lot of focus and willpower though, so it won't be like ... immediately easy, if you're up for it.
Julia is very skilled so she's a good teacher and has patience. She had to teach herself how to use magic based on hedge witch spells and books, rather than any formal teaching, so she's far more intuitive than a magician from Brakebills. Even Eliot asked to learn from her and he'd been at Brakebills for at least a year.
Wrench seems smart and that he isn't going to give up easily, which is essential. Magic from her world usually requires hand gestures and very strict intent. It looks simple on the outside but it really isn't until you get comfortable with it. Then sometimes magic feels as easy as breathing.
You teach me signing and I teach you our magic, that would be cool, right?
[ooc: if you want him to learn Magicians spells, here's a video with examples of what they look like/what they can do.]
