Spotting the canvas bag of supplies that are definitely out of reach, he snatches it up before the kid even responds to his request, nodding.
At his comment, Steve lets out an understanding chuckle. ] Yeah, I get it. Here. [ He reaches out his free hand to grip onto the pipe and then leans forward, in a move that might be considered reckless for any regular human, to place the bag on top of the pipe right in front of where the kid is sitting. ]
You pick the short stick with coming up here, or were you looking for a little thrill in your construction work?
[ Or maybe he's like Peter Parker and will have very little issue with scaling and descaling heights. Who knows? ]

[ If he noticed that the man made easier work of shifting that bag than a human should be capable of managing, the youth isn't calling attention to it. Even without super soldier strength, Rogers looks like he could snap Lockwood like a twig!
As for the question, Lockwood takes a moment to gather a small handful of nails and tuck them in his teeth, before he responds. ]
Not that I don't enjoy a little thrill. [ He'll admit, with a cheeky wink. ] But in this instance I am merely trying to express a little extra appreciation to Mag for letting me have a room, while all this is going on.
I changed my circumstances, rather abruptly, and with little concern for the lack of coin in my pocket. If I can pay back a kindness with some honest work, then I am happy to do so.
[ He's originally intended to stay with the military and live in the barracks. Then, the execution happened.
Nails held neatly between his teeth, Lockwood seemed to remember his manners at the last second and shifted the hammer to his left hand, so he could hold out his right. ]
Anthony Lockwood. Lockwood's fine.

Still, cheeky winks aside, Lockwood has a genuine answer to Steve's question. He nods in firm approval of that response. ]
Mag has been great, and those of us who've been living here for a while now do our best to make sure she knows it's appreciated. She definitely didn't have to open her doors to us the way she has. [ But she doesn't seem to have regretted it, either. The Summoned as a group tend to be eager to help, and the inn is going to look better than ever once this is all done.
Still, Steve doesn't recognize Lockwood, by name or by voice, which means he can't have been at the inn for very long. When he sees that outstretched hand, he grips onto the pipe overhead and leans forward against to shake. ] Steve Rogers. Rogers is fine, Steve is fine... [ He shrugs. He's not picky, though he'll keep to Lockwood's request. Handshake down, he leans back, taking a look at the window frame that Lockwood's currently working on. ] You must be pretty new here. Who clued you in about the Sarstina?

A pleasure to meet you, Steve. The Doctor. [ He'll answer the question first, then work his way back along the other things Steve said. ] I arrived just a few days before we all went to the Nether.
I met a few people while we were there, though spent most of my time being either in awe, overwhelmed, or both. The Doctor and I sort of hit it off. When we came back, well originally I'd planned to stay with the military, but changed my mind after the business with Wain. [ He'll acknowledge it, but then move the conversation along. No reason to dwell. ]
The Doctor had mentioned the Sarstina so I checked here first about the availability of a room in exchange for paying my way through work and chores. Haven't had any time to build up much in the way of funds.
Mags was very accommodating, so if she says 'up on the roof' then up on the roof I go!

Lockwood's arrival seems to coincide with Adrienne's, then. Steve can only imagine how disorienting it must have been to show up in the Free Cities, only to get carted off to the Nether soon after. Talk about information overload. ]
I think it's for the best you listened to him, yeah. To be honest, I don't know of any Summoned who's stayed at the barracks for very long.
[ And the execution would be a great reason to get the hell out of there. It's interesting that Lockwood originally planned to stay, though. Maybe it had just been for lack of a better option.
The corner of Steve's mouth twitches up at the mention of Mag. Sounds like her. She probably figured a younger Summoned would be perfect for crawling around up on the roof. ] Well, if you need me to hand you anything, or spot you, we can make this all go a little faster and get you down from there.
