March open
Who: Zagreus and you!
When: After the Eplum event
Where: Horizon (& Zagreus's Domain specifically)
What: Zagreus finally visits Horizon
Warnings: NA
Immediately upon his arrival to Horizon, Zagreus's appearance had altered to align much more closely to how he appeared at home: red and black exomis adorned with three canine skulls on one shoulder, a belt made of more skulls, arms adorned with golden bands. And around his head a crown of fiery, ever-burning laurels. The only difference was the now the symbol of the Chariot had been etched into the metal greaves he wore above his fiery feet.
Driven by the compulsion to create, he had also swiftly begun construction of his Domain: a space for which the most immediately notable feature was the river of blood surrounding it. Perhaps you will dare to attempt to cross it.

Perhaps something to consider, for any potential future expansions. The one thing that does not occur to him, however, is the possibility of fishing from a river of water.
"But if you'd like to see them...I'm sure we can go look and see if the fish are biting."
no subject
Now she needs to see everything.
"I'd love that! Mayhaps you can let me know if you'd like to try something a little different than last time? A proper fry?"
no subject
If they have, Zagreus certainly doesn't remember it. Well, he doesn't remember much of anything right now. But surely he would recall Himeka regardless!
no subject
If it had just been in passing then she could write it off, but she thought they had something of a building of comradery over the most important thing you can do: fish. (Also blood and magic and stuff but really...fish.)
Wait--
--...oh, of course! He hasn't been in Solvunn long, has he? This must be his first time in the Horizon. Why they all seem to lose sense of their former selves when making that connection, she hasn't a clue. But they do and she remembers the strange sense of peace she'd felt back then, having lost the concerns and confusion from ending up in Abraxas in the first place.
So Himeka waves her hands as she tries to embelish her statement.
"--...of blood! The blood lake. Wasn't it you? Or, or--"
She looks over to one of the blobish shades.
"Or mayhaps I have mistaken one of your hard workers here for you. Silly me!"
Nailed it.

"Regardless, if you want fish the river is the place to go. I'm sure we can find something," he says, as he leads her towards the entrance. On the way, he pauses once again by the Contractor's desk. "Put some fish in the river of blood, won't you? Preferable a nice little variety, so we can be surprised by what we get.
The Contractor nods, and Zagreus continues on towards the pool of blood that serves as the entrance. It's not entirely clear why Zagreus seems to feel that the Contractor is necessary for creation - but for some reason, this is the process that he's most comfortable with.
no subject
She follows, hoping that would be a good enough excuse. At least he does seem to be more focused on fishing, which given how they met, it seems very on point.
Asking his Contractor to add fish to the river is, indeed, probably the strangest thing she's encountered yet--do fish not occur in it naturally? She assumed it wasn't too much different than the sort of thing she'd find in Hell's Lid or somesuch. Exotic, perhaps, but still endemic.
"Is your friend there normally responsible for...supplying the catches?"
no subject
As for the question, Zagreus thinks about it a moment. "Well now that the fish are in the river, I don't think the Contractor will need to create anymore. But someone does need to create all of this in the first place!"
Even if strictly speaking that person is actually Zagreus...he doesn't seem to think so.
no subject
--Then again, when she thinks about it, is she not just her own Contractor in her own domain? Summoning up anything she needs or wills on demand? Mayhaps she judged too quickly. Besides, they're very cute.
"I suppose you're not wrong," she ends up agreeing. "Is there a specific sort of bait we're supposed to be using for these? A lure or a hook?"
She looks around to see if there is a rod available or should she conjure up her own? Or, you know, do it the old-fashioned way--hands.
no subject
"Well...usually I just use the Rod of Fishing," he says. And look! There it is, suddenly, within his hand. "But you're welcome to try out alternative methods if you wish!"
no subject
"Mayhaps I can follow your example?" There's a hope in her voice as her tail wags behind her with building excitement. "Could you show me how you use it?"
no subject
Curiously enough, this divine artifact looks pretty much exactly like a normal fishing rod. And Zagreus casts it into the water...like a normal fishing rod.
He doesn't seem to bother with bait or special lures, however. Nope - the line just goes into the water, and after a few moments there's a tug on the wire. "A Knucklehead!" Zagreus exclaims, as he pulls the fish from the water. "Now we have something to give to the Chef!"
Said fish she will note doesn't look like the kind she's used to. Mainly that it looks like a growing green fish that seems to have an oddly human-like skull over its face.
no subject
Still, for now she waits and watches, trying to see if she can discern anything unique about the rod or Zagreus' technique with it. No, bait, no...nothing. Mayhaps that's the true secret! The line itself is enough to entice their prey--
--their very bony prey. Himeka blinks, eyes widening.
"Does it always look like that? It looks more like a...Head-head."
Just a people head.
no subject
See, you can see what excellent bone structure the fish has!
"But the Chef can certainly work wonders with this. We can head back to the lounge - unless you'd like to have a go? You do seem quite keen."
no subject
"Could I?"
Himeka extends her hands, hoping that he'll let her borrow his very special Rod of Fishing. Mayhaps with this she could uncover it's secrets...
"I never let a new hole go unexplored if I can."
no subject
She will find that it is indeed just a fishing rod, if a very well-made one.
"The fishes await!" Zagreus says, as he makes a sweeping gesture towards the river of blood.
[ooc: feel free to have Himeka fish any of the ones listed as being in Tartarus here! Which is basically the Hellfish, Knucklehead, and Scyllascion]
no subject
No such thing happens.
It feels just like any other rod she's used. She inspects it closely, shifting it from hand to hand to see if it just feels different, holds it aloft in case some divine light wants to shine on it...
No?
Nothing?
Well, all right. She sets up as she normally does, sending the line flying out into the river. Himeka watches it intently, the lure bobbing idly in the water until--!! A bite! A medium bite! She grins and pulls back, stopping the line from speeding out further and carefully reins it in to reveal a very infalted scuffer.
She gasps.
"Blood-bornfugu!?"
no subject
Of course, said spikes weren't going to do anything to stop it from being eaten by Zagreus and Himeka. But that didn't mean Zagreus couldn't appreciate its deadly attributes all the same!
no subject
"Oh most certainly. I haven't had one of these in quite a while."
There's a pause as she unhooks the fish and starts to hand back the rod.
"...What do you call these, exactly?"
no subject
And hopefully said Chef has indeed mastered the proper preparation. Although the Chef is also used to cooking for the immortal and the already dead...so it's entirely possibly that survivability has not been a particular concern before.
no subject
"Well, I'm very curious to see what the local preparation is then." Back to his little fortress of sorts?
"Do you have any favorites?"
She is always looking to file away important notes of what foods people like, lest she get the opportunity to cook for them in the future.
no subject
"You don't, I don't actually recall that either," he says, blinking. "Well, I suppose I'll just have to try everything so I can find out!"
wrap up here?
And, well, if not...then she's happy to help fill in some of the blanks. And his methods? They're not something she can argue against at all.
"That's the best way to do it! Let's go see how many dishes we can make with our catches, then."
Sounds good to me!
